I have been listening to Rock and Roll since I was a kid and what I love about your podcasts is you play a lot of the great old stuff on your podcast and new music that I would never hear if it wasn't for you.
Another episode I can burn for the morning commute and set the tone for any day. We can all enjoy the snow with a bit more insight.

Especially recommended for friends of my age or for younger generation who need to rediscover what rock music is all about.
What I like about your podcasts is that you bring us up to date on what some of the great musicians are doing these days, I mean as far as new recordings, collaboration, reissuing albums, etc. Where else am I going to find out about that?
You combine the good new music with the great old tunes. And, you wrap them all in a theme, that sometimes gets me to chuckle. That's your gift.
You've introduced me to new music, and I don't even know where to go to hear new music. I'm certainly not going to hear that on my local FM radio station. And shows that are new music shows - like college stations that play only alternative - really don't attract me to listen to them because some of the new music really isn't music.
You just don't hear some of these great tunes any more on terrestrial radio, and not on satellite radio.

I've been listening to each episode for the last six months. Never disappointed.
Each episode is like a Chicago deep dish pizza with all the toppings spiced with that splash of sauce when I take a bite of that chewy crust with its pockets of tasty delights.
I found your site performing a search of classic rock podcasts to check out for possible inclusion on our show schedule. Yours was about the only one worth looking into further basically because of the uniqueness of it.
Just wanted to say "thank you" again for all the effort you put into getting us new music twice every month. I have spent the last month in my cabin in northern Wisconsin, no electricity, no running water, no indoor plumbing but with your music, my mp3 player, some external speakers and a bunch of rechargeable batteries...it is just like home. You do a great job and I just want to say "thank you" again.
Perry's mixes are just right for exercise, reading, road trips or just relaxing. I recommend this podcast to all my friends and even to people I don't like. It's just that good.
I gave up FM many years ago when I decided to not subject my hi fidelity audio system to any more commercials. I have been listening to Perry's podcast since 2007, and what I find is unique is the podcasts themes, the unique covers and alternative cuts, and the cool transitions from one track to the next. Keep up the good work, Perry. I recommend your podcast to everyone that loves good music.
As the owner of thousands of records [remember those?] and thousands of CD's [I can stop anytime I want to -- I just don't want to] I listen to BRYHNH and am consistently surprised by the mixture of interesting / unusual / compelling and rarely heard versions of songs I may have heard in other, more familiar versions, or of songs I have never heard by groups and artists who get little or no airplay in traditional formats. Perry . . . keep up the great work.
One of the things i am always most amazed is at the eclectic mix of tunes that Perry manages to muster podcast after podcast. There is such a wealth of music out there that is not being heard. and it's not just the oddball bands or the new music. It may be an alternate take of a song that we all know or a remix or a live version....all in all it is in fact the best radio you have never heard.
I am from UK and believe me there's no radio station playing anything like this at any side of the dial.

The titles may be familiar but the versions quite often are unfamiliar. Live tracks, covers, alternate takes, all make me take another look at the old familiars. I, too, have been listening since at least 2007 and have heard every episode Perry has posted. Some several times. I look forward to each new one. Keep them coming.
The tracks on BRYHNH in my view, are for folks who have tired of getting their music in traditional fashion-i.e listening to several radio stations and looking for something new and those who really Know their music and are looking for a special version or live version. Finally, I look for new artists and combinations of artists that are outside of the commercial realm.
I thoroughly enjoy Perry's site and look forward to hearing what he has put together....I find it far superior to anything on the dial....I also love the relevance to current events and his always humors spin! I do not perceive myself as a musical snob but I do know what I like! I have and will continue to recommend this site to all who appreciate music that cannot be found on the radio! Thank you once again Perry, your efforts are truly appreciated!
Thanks Perry for the amazing show!! I find all kinds of great songs that i have never heard and in fact artists whose name I have heard but music I had never heard. When I hear some shows I think "where in the hell have I been???" Truly the best Radio I Have Never Heard!
You will never hear a block of music like Perry puts together, on the radio, anywhere.
Its not the playlist, but the podcast that makes BRYHNH unique.
Back in the day...before Perry's comments on the casts, before the playlists, it was always an adventure of what you might hear...maybe not a new song, but songs coupled that you would never hear on radio at least on the same station...like Rush (not a favorite of mine), Sinatra, and Jamey Johnson (a favorite of mine). Perry told me once that that a good song is a good song and it doesn't matter where it gets played.
You have such a great feeling for 1 - 12 (or 14, or 15, whatever the case may be)...
Always the perfect selection of tunes...in the Perfect order!

There are some free form radio stations playing a little bit of everything, but NOT the hard to find "one-off" alternate takes, live versions, independents, regional bands, and eclectic mixes that work so well together like on Best Radio.
I have traveled the US and the world for the last 30 years and I have never found anything like BRYHNH.
Thanks for all your hard work and dedication! As a music lover I really appreciate it. This is what radio should be. Keep up the GREAT work.

I do really appreciate the diversity of the musical content, and also the absence of commercials. The podcasts reminded me of what FM radio USED to be like, in its best days, and ought to be like now. Challenging.

Perry finds the most amazing music that is almost impossible to find anywhere else. He always provides insightful commentary and I know he knows what he's talking about. There is always something for everyone; no matter who is listening each show is entertaining and his themes are always relevant.

I live in Dubai and the FM here plays nothing but the Top 40 of the last 10 years incessantly so your music has brought a whiff of fresh oxygen in my musical life!

It's a welcome sound when I catch things like Gilmour's "Mihalis" or King Crimson's "Matte Kudasai" or Genesis' "Firth of Fifth" in the shows. First of all I want to say I love the Show. I love the eclectic mix and I also like the way you have "Themed" your shows......I have an extensive mix of music myself...but Damn!! you must have a freakin huge library of tunes...
The variety is eclectic, and the selection of live and remixed versions of otherwise familiar songs is a real draw. I'm still wandering through the vast backlog of shows, so the easily readable tracklists are useful in finding my way. Music, like any other form of information, wants to be free, and your podcasts are indeed a liberating experience.
There are a number of podcasts I've started listening through lately, and BRYHNH is one of the better. I especially appreciate the 80 minute formatting, which is convenient for transfer to a CD for listening to in the car where a better sound quality is important or for transfer to the computers at work where they like to block any website with podcast in the title.
These shows are typically pretty good to pretty great. But this one is absolutely amazingly great. I was out of my chair within a minute of White Punks on Dope and there's so so so much more to go.
Perry, I started listening to your Podcast when my employer blocked me from listening to the radio... Love the music selection! I love hearing previously unheard songs from artists I've known for years. Keep up the good work.
In the few weeks that I have been listening to all of your volumes, you have enlightened me to music I've never heard before.....and I consider myself a bit of a music connoisseur with more of a taste for the unpopular, sometimes obscure bands that are awesome but never got the mega radio play.
Perry, you're a freakin' genius!!!! For years I have always wondered why radio stations (especially these days) never play anything but corporate crap. The songs are from tracks most have never heard before, many live and some just recorded and seem to be unreleased. Kind of like the best of the hidden tracks! Also the genre of music varies within each podcast and since my music background encompasses so many different genres I like it immensely.
Friendly Host, Great selection of content, always updated regularly and on time, quite simply there is no other podcast like it around, I cannot praise it enough!
Perry Bax is independent, knowledgeable, affable and his musical choices are very interesting to me.
A large variation of musical styles that somehow seem to sound right when played together.
Perry constantly surprises me with songs I love, but have long forgotten.
Variety of music, high quality audio, well executed show.
The mix is great and very good information by the host.

Interesting covers of off the wall tracks. Great length for your average listener. Well executed theme for all shows that are consistent from episode to episode. Perry is an excellent host with vast knowledge of the music he plays plus the music biz. Overall high production value.
I like the content - not just the usual predictable fare, but bands and versions I haven't heard before. Musical taste in line with my own but more knowledgeable and able to guide me in new directions as well as playing a few favourites that I don't hear much elsewhere. One of the best free podcasts I've found anywhere...
Packed with variety. Intergenerational appeal. Funky edgy music from today melding seamlessly with classic tracks from other times. Friendly informed host.
There's almost always a song that I like that I've forgotten about over the years. I like the mix of new music and older music.
It gives me an opportunity to listen to music that I wouldn't otherwise listen to. I like the covers of the songs that I grew up with. I like the concert cuts of songs that I know. It has a high wackiness factor, and I like that.
Mix of music you don't hear anywhere else, so you can listen without the repetitive fatigue such as what you experience with commercial radio.
This it is REAL and not some phony assed commercial enterprise
I heard music I haven't heard in years and wouldn't remember existed otherwise. I also hear great things I've never heard before.
Good, themed music with a great intro to each episode putting one in the mood for the music.

I've been listening off an on for over a year. I got a new iPod a couple years back and discovered podcasts. I tried numerous podcasts and radio shows, then i came across yours. Did a generic search in iTunes for music podcasts to find it. Heard 2 episodes and I was hooked.
I only discovered your show yesterday, but I did listen to Disgracing the Family. I'm hoping to listen to a few more episodes this weekend. It seems to be quite the eclectic mix. Which I love (sometimes I have trouble listening a CD of the same band all the way through without taking a break.)

I am a big fan of your podcast. I have been listening for about a year and a half to two years now. My favorite part is the variety of songs that you play. From songs I'm familiar with, to songs that I didn't previously know, to the obscure cover songs....its all great. I play a game with myself to try and identify the songs and artists and then check if I'm right when you come in with the announcements.
I can't speak for everyone, but I do share the feeling that you make a "mixtape" for us each time you put the show together. What amazes me is that each show is incrementally better than the last one...which was even better than the prior one!

I really enjoy the funny bit at the start of the show, and your ideas for themes really come through in the selection of the tunes. The support of the website that lists the playlist really helps to tie together the theme and the song selection...and you have a wicked sense of humor and irony! It takes a bit of a twisted mind (guilt, here) to fully appreciate your intent.
Hope your holidays were wonderful and your are feeling better these days. My iPod died, so I download the show and listen in on my workstation. Cubicle life just got better, thanks to your efforts.
May I suggest the theme for Volume 100? How about "The Underdog"?? You know...the kid that nobody had faith in makes good. With your creativity, you can take an idea like this and make it happen.

I have been listening to your podcasts for a while, and finally decided to send you some just deserved feedback. I love music, and I find myself waiting for the new episodes to arrive to see what type of journey you will send me on. From Zappa's version of Stairway to heaven, to a solo piano rendition of Close to the Edge, this podcast offers the variety that I enjoy listening to. Please give yourself a pat on the back & keep doing what you do.
This is a great show. I suppose great times inspire such selections. Overall, I like how you include classic songs that are covered in often equally classic ways. I'm listening to the Allman Bros cover of The Night... as I write. Never heard it, but very nice.
I continue to slowly go through the many shows and try to do shows that were posted in the month we are in. So I'm listening to 2006-11-14 the_revolution_is_being_televised Vol 50 right now and early in the show you talk about the recent elections perhaps indicating the beginning of a change. You were far more correct than you could have imagined.
I'm like a kid in a candy store and I'm jumping from one show to another and jumping some more. Can't get enough. So much to listen to. I feel like I have to catch up right away, but know I can't.
And now a question for you: how do you do it? I really mean it. How can you come up with so many unique playlists for each show? Plus the added constraint of a theme. Or does a theme make it easier?

Back when I first found "The Best Radio..." it was music only, but I like it better with a bit of commentary. I know many of the tunes though the version you play is often new to me. Thanks for introducing me to a lot of recent music. It's motivated me to buy some of the artists. I've listened to all "The Best Radio..." shows three or four times over, and expect to continue to replay them.
I often get some exercise by inline skating the Pier Four to Coutes
Paradise Trail here in Hamilton, Ont. When skating I always listen to
music and yesterday I chose "Artists Only". It was great, the music
matched the rhythm of my skates, and I loved the selections. I listen
to all the Best Radio's but I gotta tell you Vol. 92 really struck a
chord.

I was looking for good music podcasts and ended up in your site, which is sort of a music-podcast heaven... I mean, the track selection for each podcast is awesome, kudos for that!
I got an Zune 80gb for my birthday in April. While exploring the podcasts available on the Zune Marketplace, I discovered The Best Radio You Have Never Heard. I checked out a couple of the song lists and found you to be a kindred spirit in musical taste. I downloaded the entire set of podcasts from the rss feed and started from the beginning with Floating Sex Bucket, The Best Radio You Have Never Heard, Volume 04. Holy crap! "God damn it, Bax! You're a god damn genius!" to paraphrase the Drill Sergeant.
Usually, I spend the hours driving, by myself, across the wasteland of Northern Ohio and Indiana trying to find something, anything decent on the radio. Not this year. In addition to BRYHNH, I enjoyed the company of my spouse and teenage sons. They were unable to sleep because they wanted to stay awake and listen to the music! Perry, not many people can put together radio that keeps everyone, male and female, from 13 to 44 years old awake and happy at the same time. Once again, you are sheer audio genius. Thank you so much for BRYHNH and please keep the new ones coming.
I went to WIU from '83 - '87 and I have to thank you for expanding my musical horizons. I listened to you on WIUS all the time. A few times I would call you and give you some obscure detail about a band I was trying to think of or I would try to hum a few bars and you would always know the answer! And now I've found your podcast which is awesome. Believe it or not, I heard a song by Aztec Camera today and it made me think of your name. I Googled "Perry Bax" and found the podcast. I'm extremely pleased I somehow found this podcast. Being that I am a younger Individual, I am always trying to improve my rock repertoire, and this allows me to do so without access to a radio at all moments. Thanks, and keep the awesome tunes coming.
I heard about your podcast in a review on podcastreviews.com or reviewsofpodcasts.com... one of those. It stuck in my head because the guy was really raving about you and your song selections and would have given you a perfect 10 out of 10 but he was disappointed that you didn't speak much at all. lol. Your playlists and your mix of songs is definitely awesome! My taste in music is all over the place so this 'cast is right up my alley. I'll definitely be subscribing!

I am originally from Michigan but I use to work in Chicago from 1990 to 2002. I have been a WXRT listener/fan ever since, however, the company Jim and I work at stop Internet streaming at the first of the year. I was unable to listen to WXRT so finding your pod-casts was a godsend.

What I like about your 'casts is that they play really well, better than the play lists I hear on most stations. I almost wish you had kept the song lists less accessible; I don't always have the self control to wait until after I've listened.
Thought I'd write to say keep up the good work. I started a new job recently in the highlands of Scotland and there are no radios. I've got a lap top from work but they restrict the access for listening to radio stations. So anyway, I've started to download your podcasts and listen to them every day at work. Because of you, I had to buy a higher capacity iPod! Just erased my hard drive for a fresh install of Vista Ultimate...and had to retrieve all back episodes of the show...because I have my favorites (Ball Bearing Paint Job, Game Over, Anything can Happen Day). Your show is like the mix tape I always wanted to make, but never got around to. You played "4th of July" by the L.A. band "X"...now that is taste!

I really like the music.
I think the podcast is great and is changing/improving my music
listening habits. Even though I have 4 or 5 thousand songs on my
iTunes, it still seems like I end up listening to the same favorites
over and over. With the podcast I get to hear new stuff all the time
and although some I've heard, much is new. I like your commentary also
with insights into the music and various historical nuggets.

Living abroad and out of western culture for a while has left me
missing my old LP collection and it's refreshing to hear some of the
tunes you spin; especially the lesser known.

OK - I'm fairly new to podcasts, I stumbled across your feeds and they are bloody excellent - I really enjoy listening to them.
I randomly chose episodes titles that sound interesting to me and listen while I am in the living room or the garden. From the few I heard "The Road To Infinite" and "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" are my favorites. I
really like the quotes on the beginning of each episode, that together
with the good music was the main reason why I kept listening, so keep
that up. I will definitely spread the word about the podcast.

Definitely the BEST radio I've never heard!!
It seems like each one has something unique that catches me. Plus the intros to the the 'cast are catchy too. Most of the other podcasts I listen too have a lot of underground or indie or obscure, these mixes border on the less frequently heard, some is obscure to the mainstream listener, but I'm really enjoy them.
I just want to let you know that I'm blown away by these podcasts. I can't get enough and this has easily become my favorite podcast. I'm looking forward to the next batch. I love the mixes that you've put together. Thanks for pulling these all together.

Your podcast rocks. One suggestion - don't ignore Zune - the Zune Marketplace should have just about the same content as iTunes. Would be cool to see a link beside the "iTunes" links on your playlists. Just sayin' :)

Wanting to keep the clutter to a minimum, I went with the format that is the most widely used which is iTunes. With Microsoft discontinuing production and support of Zune, it appears going forward, Apple will be keeping it's edge in that department. Going forward, my interest lies however, in keeping an eye on the future and getting playability in Spotify . . .
