Regarding "Dead Girls of London", Van Morrison recorded a version of it, before Zappa, then thought twice about releasing it.
It's out there somewhere.
I've heard it.
Perry responds:
Yes, I mentioned that Warren Zevon also sang it but yes, it was Van Morrison's record company that put a stop to his version as well.

Perry, that Bread song was a real throw back for us old timers. Thanks for the memories.
Perry responds:
Ya know Mike, I was hesitant to play it because . . . well it was Bread. But then I started listening to a few of their other tracks, and they really have a pile of really well written songs. Some more schmaltzy than others, but really good songs just the same. It comes right down to my basic principal of music and the show.
A good song is a good song, and I don't really care that an indie hipster might scoff or not. If it's good, and it fits, it gets played.
It's really that simple in the end . . .

and can Mungo Jerry be far behind???
Perry responds:
Hey, we're having a party here !
I said "A good song is a good song."
Now get your shinebox and pull out your "In the Summertime" 8-track and go sit in your Trans-Am with an Old Style and have a nice listen.
C'mon. Drinks for everyone including that Greek hoodlum over there . . .
