underground radio returns!! you need some more cosmic vibes going in the background while you speak

Rick says:

Vibes? You mean like Lionel Hampton? Maybe Mingus on bass. THAT would be Cosmic!

Whisper To a Scream

NEW FOR OCTOBER 15, 2006

All Hallows Eve.
We at The Best Radio You Have Never Heard are trying to put the fright back into Fright Night.
What with pop culture dominating Halloween these days we thought it was time for the comeback of the monsters and the devil.
Vampires, slashers and witches, ghosts and goblins !
That's what Halloween is all about, right ?
Dressing up as one of the foursome from Sex and The City, a cast member of Grey's Anatomy or an inanimate object (oh, say a bottle of Bud Light) should get your Halloween privileges revoked for life, but I digress.

So tuck this sucker under your witches hat or robes, and stick it in the player at the Halloween party of your choice.
A brilliant experiment in terror.

1. Science Fiction, Double Feature - Rocky Horror Original Cast
2. Experiment In Terror - Henry Mancini
3. Bullet With Butterfly Wings - Smashing Pumpkins
4. And This Is What The Devil Does - My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult

6. Goblin Girl - Frank Zappa
7. Frankenstein - Edgar Winter Group
8. Whisper To A Scream - Elvis Costello
9. Ghost Town - The Specials
10. The Ballad Of Peter Pumpkinhead - XTC
11. Painted Moon - The Silencers
12. Werewolf Of London - Warren Zevon

NEW FOR AUGUST 15, 2006

As we get about to this point in the year you start to hear people lamenting the end of summer.
The dichotomy here is that mid-August can be the hottest time of the season.
What does this have to do with this mid-month podcast Beer, Blood, and Piss ?
Sweating a bunch, cooling down with cold beer in a club that is 100º and enjoying the aromas ? Finding the former "beer distributor" in the back room riddled with more holes in him than the Swiss cheese?

Nah. Just great music to keep you cool, in the groove and having good thoughts about the government that repealed the Volstead Act .
One thing they have gotten right. . . .

With last months archive entry Stuff, Different Order, it doesn't seem right not to follow it up with the companion piece More Stuff, Different Order. Recorded at about the same period in 2002, this one remains in its original form without the requisite remix the former enjoyed.

BRYHNH Celebrates One Year "On the Air!"

Our One Year Anniversary !

This month marks the one year anniversary of The Best Radio You Have Never Heard.

Our proudest achievement is 43 podcast episodes of course (although not all of them have reappeared on this server as archive items) but by far the bigger story is not having repeated a song (well ,maybe two where I spaced out so don't go writing in with your fantastic sleuth ability) in any of the episodes.

My thanks to all of you who listen, read these notes, have passed on my podcast to friends, have links on their web sites and most of all to everyone who just "gets it."

This months Archive title might be one the eldest of the bunch.

Originally recorded in 2002, I took the liberty to re-edit this one for it's return into the list.

3. Wembley - Candy Skins
4. What Girls Want - Material Issue

A Fabulous Review From pluggd.com

More accurately, it's the Best Mix CD Posing As a Podcast. This compilation show from Chicago leans heavily on classic rock, early alternative, and progressive.

If you've been around the block you've heard a lot of these artists before, and probably some of these songs as well. It doesn't break new ground in terms of content. That's not the point.

The point is juxtaposing and context, blending songs from disparate rock genres in a way that reveals more about them than you previously knew.

It's what they used to do on freeform radio stations like KSAN in the 70s, except there's no spoken interruptions from a DJ.

With that, The Best Radio You Have Never Heard Show hits its mark. You won't hear songs like this on commercial radio stations, but they should be playing them. The show I enjoyed mixed songs from X, Donald Fagen, old Fleetwood Mac, Jackson Browne, and for God's sake even OMD and ELP. It even made me re-evaluate the music of bands I previously did not like (ELP). It's a good learning experience. I can completely envision burning a couple of these shows onto CD's, getting in my car, and taking a long road trip with no concerns or backtracks.

Really, there's no better measuring stick for a music-only podcast than that. (The only thing it lacks is a song list, but just google the lyrics.)

Here To Do My Parts

NEW FOR JULY 15, 2006

The mid-month podcast for July was in the can and awaiting upload when the sad news arrived that legendary rock icon and Pink Floyd founder Syd Barrett had died at the age of 60.
This event struck a chord with me and the results are this July's mid-month new release.
The previously intended title will have to wait until August 1, 2006.

This podcast is a tribute to Syd Barrett. Even though of course there is some Pink Floyd music in the show, it is more of a tribute to Syd's vision. I like to think of it as traveling music for Syd's iPod as he makes the trek to the Gates of Dawn, or perhaps some gardening music for the great beyond as, in his recent past, gardening was one of Syd's few hobbies.

In the end, you might find it an atypical Best Radio release, but it will likely have a place in your catalog. After you hear it once, it will become one of those shows you'll feel compelled to "pull off the shelf" for late night introspective journeys . . .

1. Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts 1-5) - Pink Floyd
2. See Emily Play - David Bowie
3. Astronomy Domine - Pink Floyd
4. I Had Too Much To Dream - The Electric Prunes
5. Exposure - Robert Fripp
6. Driver 8 - R.E.M.
7. Don't Fear The Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult
8. Hoping Love Will Last - Steve Hackett
9. Survival - Yes
10. Heaven and Hell - The Who
11. The Waiting Room - Genesis
12. Anyway - Genesis
13. Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts 6-9) - Pink Floyd

The Best Radio You Have Never Heard.
Paying it both forward and back.

Perry:

As always, great show! I really enjoyed this one in particular - a superb tribute to Mr Barrett. He will be sorely missed. The emphasis on the Floyd tunes was definitely in order, and the others fell right into place. I can honestly say, near the end, I was deeply somber, and almost in tears. I am emotional by nature, but it really hit me "right there!" Thanks for the great show, and for sharing your vision of "Pink."

Will3m says:

I got this link from a pal and he did me a favor by linking to this great podcast. Syd ruled and will always be remembered as one of the greatest freaks around. May he rest in peace and may this podcast continue for a long time !!!!

thanks for a great show for a great musician. syd barrett's absence haunted even those who were once close to him, but this made his short but brilliant recording career that much more fantastic and mysterious. so sad to hear of his passing, though he is free of those inner demons he must have had. i wish him well on his present journey. viva syd.

jinenjo says:
07/28/2006

Where were the Syd songs? I was searching the podcast world for a tribute that included HIS songs. I'm sorry to say that I was quite disappointed. This is supposed to be radio I NEVER HEARD, right? C'mon, I've HEARD Wish You Were Here tons of times, not to mention that BOC is fairly common as well. It's good music, but where was Syd in his own voice?

Barry BURBs says:
07/30/2006

Superb! Loved it. Will be a multiple play, this one. An added bonus for me too is that Pete's 2nd best ever guitar solo is in here too!

Ref last comment:
You can't get more a relevant song for Sid than "Shine On You Crazy Diamond," there is no other reason for that songs existence than to represent Sid. "See Emily Play" is pure Barrett as is "Astronomy Domine" (he wrote both songs, music and lyrics).

Perry says:
07/31/2006

but what were to songs and who were they by?

why do I have to even have to ask.

perry responds . . .

You have to ask since you were not savvy enough to use a real email address or even a more creative fake name where I would have been happy to send you the list, like I do to a great many of the listeners here.

Wishing you the best and far easier challenges in your pursuits . . .

Please Return To Your Seats

Liberated from the vault.

Please Return To Your Seats was recorded as I watched the 25th Anniversary broadcast documentary of the infamous Disco Demolition at Chicago's Comiskey Park in 1979. The title is derived from the hilarity of the text on the scoreboard urging about 10,000 maniacs to "please return to their seats"

I was turned away from "Sox Park" about a block away by Chicago's Finest on horseback dressed in their classic baby powder blue riot gear that night. Baby blue has never looked so scary.

Although this podcast was inspired by those moments in title and intro only, contained in its grooves are classic "Best Radio You Have Never Heard" tracks . . .

1. The Boy In The Bubble (Remix) - Paul Simon
2. Pride (in The Name Of Love) (live) - U2

Listening now and it's amazing! How do I find out what music this is? Do you list it somewhere or tell us in the podcast?

Jim Shillington says:

Perry has really created something special in "Road to Infinite". It just whisks you away and sets you back down 80 minutes later. It is mellow, trippy, and intense all at the same time. I will be listening to this one frequently.

Got Classic ?

Download

Taken from one of the very first podcasts, "Got Classic ?" is a show that people keep going back to. Sort of a theme oriented podcast, and why the heck not. I do have a few of them knocking around.
This one has no intro. Why? Because the intro to Song 1 far outdoes anything cute I could ever come up with. This would be a good time to grab that old faded concert t-shirt . . .

1. Intro / Sweet Jane - Lou Reed
2. Now I'm Here - Queen
3. Eight Miles High - The Byrds
4. Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others (Live) - The Smiths
5. Away From Home - Klark Kent

16. Starship Trooper - Yes

Any set list that has Eminem, AC/DC, Johnny Cash, Nine Inch Nails and Keller Williams has covered a lot of great rock and roll real estate.

  • Thank you for this wonderful music you have put together, it truly is the best live music i have heard in years. great show keep up the great work.
  • I mean after so much time there's really not much you can say.. It continues to be a top-notch product time after time after time. And someone that's a fan of live music and covers and odd songs, it's a gold mine.
  • Great live cuts, extended versions, album cuts, obscure songs from artists you know. If your a hip cat you will listen to this podcast. Don't be a square.
  • Continuous montage of seemingly incompatible styles of music that inexplicably works. Like a mixed tape of mostly obscure tunes
  • Holy Cow! Why, why, why don't I listen to your podcast more often? This
is just total proof that good music is hiding out there and must be
ripped out of its hiding place by the likes of Perry Bax. Now if you
could only arrange for this to be required listening!
  • it is what it says on the tin ... the best radio.
  • Imagine being able to hear great new bands with sounds and styles you believed were not available anymore. Envision hearing new versions of your old favorites you thought never existed. Visualize your host, a musical Sherpa, capable of guiding you up the ridges of the musical back stories climbing the canyons of sounds to the heights of that epic classic and finding nuances you never picked up or heard before. It's time to sign up & tell your pals to listen. Do it now!
  • Beware. This stuff is addictive. And educational. And full of surprises. Music you know so well but have never heard *that* version before. This is the place to be to broaden your ears. I'm quite a newbie here but addicted already.
  • I found BRYHNH a few years ago and it's become one of my favorite addictions. Perry has a unique gift for conveying the times or just great music.I often stay up late to catch the latest podcast and I am certain if you try it you to will become a fan. I have filled my iPod with many episodes and I can listen to great music for days without repeats.
  • Deep cuts, rare cuts, little talk, free, what's not to like about this show?
  • Been listening for 11, or 12 years now. There's nothing else like it. I mean where else are you going to hear Mike Tyson sing the " Girl from impanama"???
  • In a sea of free, I'd feel so guilty if I didn't support this show. I have recommended and ripped so many shows for friends to the point of having a library of the best ones on the network at work. BRYHNH is the shizzle.
  • I have honestly found so many new artists that I'd never have experienced before if it wasn't for Perry's broadcast. Fantastic stuff!
  • This podcast is the best, just like it says in the title. If you love prog with rock, blues and any other genre of music thrown in for good measure then this is for you. Listening tip: don't check the playlist until AFTER you've listened to the whole episode. It's a constant joy (well, twice a month anyway) to be surprised and illuminated by the mix of music hitting your eardrums. Wonderful!!!!
  • Great music ...always something new for me!! I really like the confluence of music by the artists.
  • I just discovered this podcast but I am hooked.Great selection of tunes. I will be back next month ( And the next...)
  • This podcast is fun. I appreciate the hard work that goes into selecting songs from various artists, some familiar and others not so familiar. What makes this podcast stand out from the others is the ability of the curator to develop quite interesting episodes without getting stale. Thank you Perry Bax.
  • Always look forward to the next mix of great tunes.
The best of the best music, with previously unheard versions of classic tracks, great new songs, and introducing me to previously unknown artists...

  • I've discovered a lot of great music on this, great to listen to while you are doing stuff!
  • Flawless production, music you have heard, and music you missed. An outstanding amalgam of stories and music news. Well Done.
  • The best rock music podcast I have ever heard!
  • the title says it all... it's true..the best radio you have never heard.
  • Perry Bax is your highly knowledgeable tour guide on this more than magical mystery tour of music. BRYHNH combines best of new, old, live, obscure, covers, one offs and just plain interesting music. You will hear the music you may know and want to hear, but you will also hear music you NEED to hear! The shows have great themes, great schemes and outstanding tunes from the best musicians in the genre. Truly the Best Radio You Have Never Heard! ENJOY!
  • Been listening to BRYHNH since before Perry Bax found his Radio voice . When on a trip to Chicago in 2007 was lucky enough to meet up with the podmiester general . I never miss the shows ,I use the App when I'm running . The variety of music that Mr Bax provides in mixes that allow you to Indeed hear The Best Radio you have never heard.  If you haven't slip in and visit Perry's world a place that provides music for people who are serious about music in there life's.
  • This is the real deal folks! Great music all the time!
  • Old classics, rare live recordings, new releases from a wide variety of artists. Always a great set. I look forward to this every 2 weeks. Don't be a cheapskate, sign up to Patreon and keep the machine running.
  • The absolute BEST podcast for discovering new versions of songs from artists you know & love, as well as being introduced to artists you have not heard before. Perry does an amazing job with each episode. Highly recommended!
  • Long ago, before Satellite Radio, you could listen to FM radio and not have a clue what was coming next. Free form radio sadly died out replaced by lame stations utilizing rigid, deathly boring playlists. Want to go back to the glory days of free form? Look no further. Perry plays the good stuff here. A wonderful listen every month.
  • An excellent selection of music that is either forgotten or severely underplayed.Full of pleasant surprises :)
  • I have been enjoying Best Radio since in started in 2006. When it comes to music it is really the only thing I have really stuck with over the years. Every show is fresh and entertaining and I get turned on to great new music as well as awesome different versions of all the great songs already out there.I wear my Best Radio T shirt with pride!!
  • The Best Radio podcast is consistently excellent time after time. It features rare versions of some very cool tunes by legendary performers. In addition, there is usually a new track or two as well. This is for active music listeners.
  • Like a prize-winning truffle pig, Mr. Perry Bax indeed continues to sniff out the GOOD stuff for serious rock music fans. His instincts for great music of many genres and eras are unimpeachable, and you will be hard-pressed to find a better host who entertains, informs, and stimulates the hemispheres of your musical gray matter in the most delightful ways. Who needs Classic Rock radio when we've got the Best Radio You Have Never Heard?
  • I discovered this podcast eight years ago, back before Perry even spoke on his program. Superb content. Every. Damn. Show.
  • My friends if you want to take a musical trip this is the Podcast that will be your bus back to your youth
  • Love the variety of music. The live cuts that you can't get at your local music shop are fantastic. Don't get to listen as much as I used to due to job changes but still makes the day better.

  • If you like rock music, no matter what kind of rock you usually listen to, you will enjoy these playlists. Guaranteed.

  • It is hard to find great rock music without having your own library of albums. FM/AM radio has limited options, serious xm is costly and segmented, Pandora and spotify are a pain. All of these won't give you what BRYHNH does on a consistent basis: new sounds from the artists we love and artists we may never have heard of, in an all-encompassing genre that doesn't give us new music that often. I know when I hit play that I'm going to hear songs I love one minute and be surprised in the next
  • Great selections, love the surprises when playing without peeking at the playlist beforehand. The best of BRYHNH is the live recordings, IMHO. Something wonderful every podcast...
  • I like that there is some familiar music in the podcasts, but it's the surprises of things that I have never heard before. The deeper than deep tracks. He plays songs that I don't think have every been on radio, so this podcasts is aptly named. Great stuff. Thanks Perry!
  • It's hard to put into words how much this episode means to me. It takes the listener on a journey into the mind. A wonderful line-up of songs and such a bitter-sweet finish. Thank you, Perry.

  • Perry Bax has been expertly curating an eclectic mix of all things rock and roll for more than a decade. With over 400 hours of archive editions, enjoy alternate mixes, live versions, sneak previews and so much more from songs spanning the entire popular music era. Every podcast is guaranteed to pique the interest of music appreciators across the globe. Keep on rocking in the free world, the mix tape has never sounded so cool.
  • This is just a gold mine of fabulous music !!! Miss it at your peril!
  • The truth is in the name! This is the best radio you have never heard!
  • My wife and I recently did a road trip spanning several days which was made much more enjoyable by several episodes of The Best Radio You've Never Heard. Thank you!!!
  • I've been looking for good music podcasts and have generally been frustrated by the meager findings I've come across so far - until I found this podcast. Perry puts together great shows packing in stuff that I love along with things I may not have sought out but greatly enjoyed. The wealth of live recordings are great gems and much appreciated.
  • I discovered Perry's show while looking for interesting music podcasts to listen to on my commute. Now I truly look forward to driving on the 1st and 15th because I'll have a fresh new BRYHNH to listen to. The mix of deep cuts, live recordings, classic rock, prog, and new releases is basically my eccentric rock-loving dream.
  • Without a doubt...the best music podcast available! This is what radio was meant to be!
  • Really terrific. Classic, original, unique. Excellent. I can barely wait for the next episode after I listen to them.
  • Some of your episodes are absolutely sublime in their selection of
music - from beginning to end! I listen to them hundreds of times and
get goosebumps and inspired each time.
  • Hi Perry

Thanks for introducing me to music I have never come across before in my 52 years. I am now hooked on King Crimson especially 'The Court of the Crimson King'. They are even an English band! Although I have a soft spot for Pink Floyd and they have similarities.
Keep up the good work and hi to Vinnie, Paulie & Cuco
    Best Wishes from the UK.

  • Excellent flow and quality of content
  • One of the best ever podcasts..... carefully curated..... impressing knowledge on selections.... amazing openness and taste.
  • GREAT CONTENT!!!!
Love the flow of music, and talking is unobtrusive and blended.
  • you won't get these playlists anywhere else. great picks and reliability. low (but interesting) talking to mess with your listening
  • THE BEST PLAYLIST I'VE NEVER HEARD
  • I have listened to 3 or 4 BRYHNH episodes a day for the past week, and I have no time for any other podcasts now.
  • I like 95% of what I hear on BRYHNH. I am familiar with 80% of the artists I hear on BRYHNH. I've only heard 5% or less of the tracks played on BRYHNH playlists.
  • No other radio broadcast or podcast has your tastes in playlist or format. Hope to listen for to BRYHNH for at least another 12 years!
  • I truly appreciate the work you've done with BRYHNH. I have described the podcast to my fiancee as like discovering a new friend with an awesome record collection.
  • I have been geeking out with all my serious music friends and family about BRYHNH.
Now, thanks to BRYHNH, we can stay current with with the sort of music that truly moves us, without it being solely "classic rock/pop oldies" format.
  • Glad that your podcast arrived - great listen as usual - must be hard keeping up the new/eclectic/old music and getting it to all mesh together. Hopefully you have assistance from wife, dogs, producers, etc. Keep the music coming, never get tired of seeing what surprises you will come up with.
  • Hi.
    Wow, amazing . . .
  • Perry, this one is one your best... I've given it several listens in the past few days ...
  • Well done boss.
When the pressures on you always nail it.
  • Loving this.
  • Brilliant, as ever!
  • Always an excellent listen.
  • That is the best damn version of Elizabeth Reed I have ever heard. OMG.
  • Nice playlist! Thanks Perry !
  • Starcastle and Nektar on the same setlist? Next you'll be doing Triumverats "Illusions on A Double Dimple" or "Eruption:Tommy" by Focus;) which Steve Hackett covered
Glad you are playing these forgotten bands and keeping them in the publics eye.
  • Not just way back, but way way way back!
    All thumbs up.
  • Holy Cow! Why, why, why don't I listen to your podcast more often? This is just total proof that good music is hiding out there and must be ripped out of its hiding place by the likes of Perry Bax. Now if you could only arrange for this to be required listening!
  • Perry. I used to love the anticipation of a new Beatles, Stones, Dylan, Floyd etc. album. Those days are long gone and CD's don't have the same feel, so they aren't a longed for event. BRYHNH episodes however have sort of taken over from albums and I do look forward to them, wondering what weird and wonderful combinations of music you're gonna throw together. Keep on keeping on my friend.
  • The last show was great, this show is great, and I'm sure the next show will be great.
  • Don't know what to do if you stop !!!
99% of my music listening comes from BRYHNH.
  • Greatest ever show since the last one i said that about. Just top class stuff.
  • No other podcast captures the range and diversity of music out there - both brand spanking new and from other universes.
  • Thank you for all your hard work with this project; The music is always stunning.
  • When you create music you need all the inspiration you can find,  Perry and the show are just that. Listen to why it's "The Best". Here's to big musical swells in 2016!
  • If you like rock music, especially classic rock, this podcast is definitely for you. Every two weeks you get a mix of covers, live, unreleased, B-sides that you've never heard from bands you know and love! This is NOT your local classic rock station that plays the same 3 Beatles, Rolling Stones and Led Zep tracks over and over.
Perry Bax, keep up the good work, Canada loves you!
  • Perry's podcasts are a rare gem, effortlessly melding old and new, reminding us of glorious pieces of music we may not have heard for some time with rare intriguing alternative and live versions and up to the minute releases. Think of Perry as a master chef, taking quality ingredients and making something delicious. Thanks!
  • Two times a month I am looking forward to download these very special compilations of Perry Bax from Chicago. Thanks for the best podcast I know from van Uitert, Oosterbeek, Netherlands.
  • I have roamed the podcast desert but I always come back to BRYHNH as i can rely on it. Top quality recordings of versions of songs I never would have heard otherwise, presented in great sequence w/ a dash of humor. Simply the finest ---
  • Simply the best podcast I've ever heard. I've been a listener for many years now and it just doesn't LET you go. Addictive quality and GREAT GREAT music choices put together by Mr. Perry Bax and his assistants Paulie,, Vinnie and the new boy Cuco.
    5 star ratings.
  • Eclectic, interesting mix of music.
Informative, sometimes funny and always great to listen to.
    What are you waiting for?!!!
  • Your show is amazing!!!  I listen to a number of podcasts throughout the day and yours by far is the best.
Yours is all I listen to on my way home each day from work.  On those really hard days, it really helps to pick me up.  Keep up the great work!
  • Killer show. Killer editing. What more can I say apart from listen to this over and over. Get the app, subscribe, donate.
    Just listen.
  • So Perry played football in high school, was in a really bad van accident 30 or so years ago, hit a car door suddenly swung open before him on his bike at full tilt; all of which caused massive trauma to his body and arguably his brain pan. Any of these could be responsible for his innate ability to mix genres and go from Pink Floyd to Bauhaus or Steven Wilson to Zappa and make you think that it was supposed to be that way all along. But I knew him well before those concussive events and he had the gift even then.
  • Once again Perry shows us why he's the best, great listen.
  • Keep up the great work man! America and the free world need great music and a DJ to play it. So sick of the way radio is now.
  • Once again, Perry, what I've listened to so far is fantastic. Much appreciation to you!
It's always a treat to recognize voices, style, etc. as well as being introduced to artists I've not heard.
  • Mr. Perry Bax, host of this podcast, seems to outdo himself on a regular basis. I present Exhibit A:  A little something for everyone; new stuff, the proggy, classic, and jam persuasions. Much of this goes into the realm of pure musical invention.
Really, get ready to scrub to it!
  • This is another shining example of the reason I first started listening to BRYHNH.
You will hear stuff you thought you knew, and then you will be pleasantly surprised by the twists, then Perry picks some magic out of the blue, and there I am looking up some group that is new to me.
    So bravo.
  • You won't get these playlists anywhere else. Great picks and reliability. Low advertising to mess with your listening.
  • As there is no best blues prog rock jam band fusion category...or witty politically savvy host section with 3 dogs in the control room category...I'll go with Rock Alternative.
  • 'bout the best radio I've ever heard!
  • Thanks Perry, great playlist!

  • Been to busy to say thanks for another masterpiece . . .
  • St. Peters church grounds, grooving to the sound of "Echoes" and the newest BRYHNH podcast...someone wake me when the hog is done.
  • All I know is it's been like Christmas in July getting 2 Podcasts back to back
  • I was born and raised in the western suburbs of Chicago, and I'm a loyal listener of BRYHNH.
  • Yet another stunning collection from Perry's World, all the way from Luxembourg wedged between France, Germany and Belgium.
  • This one is great just got better and better as it progressed. Loved it.
  • BRYHNH:
Rock and Roll, and great musical knowledge.
  • You won't get these playlists anywhere else. Great picks and reliability.
  • Great show!
An amazing mix of great originals, never before heard live cuts, and unexpected covers.
  • Quite a great selection . . .
  • Great choices, Perry, as usual.
  • Wow, Perry, this one blew me away!
  • Very cool, made my morning fly by listening to this.
  •  Good tunes !
  • Can't wait to fire up my laptop and download it.
  • Fantastic as always PB!
    Talk about a mixed bag!?!?
  • Still wondering how you come up with your inspiring titles?
  • I'm going to put this on outside stereo so the neighbors can listen to and do some garden work. Great music
  • Love the show, keep up the good work!
  • Great app, btw
  • Awesome podcast as usual.
  • Finally, I had an hour+ to myself to listen to another great work by the master Perry.
  • Loved the reconstructed "Tommy"
  • This episode was a great way to travel thru Kentucky and Tennessee
  • How freaking good is the PB mixdown . . . ?
  • It is the soundtrack to the next fortnight!
  • Great episode! Thank you Perry Bax.
    You ROCK!
  • Yay!
Love that it's this time again for a new BRYHNH !
  • What a great listen.
    My ears are happy.
  • Best Rock Podcast out there, keep it coming.

  • This is the best music podcast on the web. I can't help it; I love prog rock!
  • Hey Perry

Just wanted to pass on a big thanks from South Korea. In the land of everything K-Pop and The Armed Forces network your awesome podcasts are great and bring back many memories from the 70's to present. Once again a big thanks from Osan Air Base.
  • Thanks for such a spectacular podcast!! Currently working my way through the back catalogue :0)
  • I've slowly been getting into the Best Radio podcasts that Perry does.
    Amazing man, Perry is.
Love his encyclopedic knowledge (and his library of rare recordings).
  • Allow me to thank YOU, again, Mr. B., for all the pleasure I've had in listening to your own very fine work, and that of your cohorts, in the production of BRYHNH:
the best podcast on the web, bar none!  You, sir, are a radiophile's treasure of the highest order.
  • NOBODY can do mixes like Perry Bax! I use TBRYHNH to patiently convert myself to any and all rock flavors.... and Perry is the best preacher possible !
  • I don't usually listen to classic rock per se, but this is a little different, sort of a genre hopping mix . . . its all brand new, and you can stream it or download the podcast from Best Radio You Have Never Heard

  • Another quality setlist by Perry . . .
I am trying to share the show with one friend every two weeks. Share the wealth.
  • Excellent show I stumbled upon here. Bandwidth is limited for live streaming, however the podcasts are gems! Better than any music radio station ever in South Africa. :-)
  • well another BELTER nuff said xx
  • Thanks for another fine edition including an enjoyable Triple Townshend. A perfect 10 from and judges.
  • Perry, first time I've ever been on a podcast. Fantastic!
  • Excellent podcast, starting with the great Byrne and ending with the beautiful King Crimson. Thanks a lot for so much musical joy!
  • Top class show entered onto my (soon to be discontinued I pod classic for my Run tomorrow.. ACED it sorry NO favs this shout, its all just a GREAT listen.
  • I just got back from traveling, and finally got on my bike yesterday and finally listened to this podcast and it is AWESOME...one of your best. Great riding music.
  • Just glanced at the play list, I can hardly wait.
  • Live Faces . . .
    'nuff said
  • YOU ROCK DUDE !!!!
  • Thanks so much Perry, an amazing podcast! Im finding "easter eggs"
  • Well done.  Brilliant Podcast. You have reminded me of so much great music and introduced me to so much new stuff. Thank you.
  • Your latest podcast was outstanding!
  • Your shows are great.  I can identify about 80% of the artists right off the bat and then the other 20% are fun to figure out (or wait for you to identify).  I think that is about the right mix - shows that you and I have similar tastes but still plenty of chances for me to hear something new.
  • So I finally had some time last night to go through your shows, convert them to FLAC, apply metatags, etc.  So now your shows all categorized neatly into my Foobar interface and, since I'm here alone, I went to sleep last night listening to a shuffle of your shows. Stayed on until my computer rebooted for a windows update around 5:00 AM.  Now that was fun!
  • I was nominated for the Gratitude Challenge.
I am grateful for my twice a month guilty pleasure, The Best Radio You Have Never Heard podcast, always bringing a unique blend of live performances and studio rarities. The best 90 minutes of every fortnight!
  • I was nominated for the Gratitude Challenge.
I am grateful for my twice a month guilty pleasure, The Best Radio You Have Never Heard podcast, always bringing a unique blend of live performances and studio rarities. The best 90 minutes of every fortnight!
  • Thanks, Perry!
For fully one hour, nineteen minutes and forty-nine  seconds, listening to the 9/1/14 edition, my feet never touched earth!  You are the best.
  • Love the variety and the often hard-to-find or obscure versions of tunes
  • The music is incredibly well-chosen and mixed without mercy.
  • Now you know how I feel when I'm listening to BRYHNH.
    I see the orderly chaos . . .
  • I was there in the early days, in the basement, when you were inhaling huge amount of all kinds of music, As a friend of your kid brother I watched, listened, and absorbed and thanks to BRYHNH I haven't had to stop.
  • BRYHNH is like a cast iron pan, it will last forever and only gets better with age. The selections, transitions and "eeddditting" always keep me coming back for more. I have no need for commercial radio I now have 239 volumes of the BRYHNH.. "Shut up and play your BRYHNH"...looking forward to 240.
  • Great fookin podcast!
  • I just stumbled on the show as I searched around the web.
    It's a little treasure.
  • Thanks so much for making your past shows available - I just discovered your station! Great selection of tunes you put together; blues, vintage rock is awesome!
  • I have had a chance to listen to some of your stuff and it is sooo much better than the crap that is out there.  I will keep sending peeps your way ;)
  • I'm starting from the beginning of your archive.  Had one of the
first shows playing nice & loud in my new shop after hours late the
    other night.
  •  I'm a relative newcomer to the show, so I'm appreciating all your archived stuff.  It's really filling me in on a lot of great music I would've probably otherwise missed.
    Keep up the great work!
  • This really is the best radio I've never heard
  • BRYHNH podcast is always very good but this one is, to my mind, outstanding. Well worth 80 minutes of your time.
  • "Birds On Parade" (Vol. 73 - 11.01.2007), in my humble opinion, is your finest set of music, Perry. I have listened to this many times over the years & never tire of it. Just wanted you to know.

  • Keep the great music playing!
  • Perry, really diggin' the podcasts. Glad I found it. Listening to the newest and sounds great. !

  • It's a keeper, this one is . . .
    Trippy, and way cool!!
I'm writing to my Senator:  You need  to be designated a national treasure!
  • Keep the podcasts coming!
They really make the daily commute less of a grind.
  • Sweet! Another beaut!
    :-)
  • I always learn from your thematic selections and enjoy the whimsical hosting.
Thanks for all the good stuff.
  • That playlist looks AWESOME !
  • Very cool !
  • Got a small preview. Love it !
Looking forward to the drive home to listen in full.
  • Saturday night by the fire with BRYHNH !
    Woo-hoo !
  • Perry, once again an epic 'cast. I don't know how I manage the 2 odd weeks between each podcast
  • This is really nirvana in disguise, as I shall enjoy whatever time there is to devote to listening, and learning from this master, and likely listen again and again and again to some episodes, so do not care, really, if I ever catch up at all.
  • I regret there are as yet so many as-yet un-listened to episodes (by me, as new listener), and I can only devote a few hours each day to catching up.
  • There is not one thing I do not like about this show.
  • Perry has an encyclopedic knowledge of contemporary music, musicians, and canny access to their recordings both live performances and studio ones.
  • Loving the integrity of Mr. Perry Bax, his musical tastes, proclivities, and choices; his skills re: mixing, blending, presenting music thematically; the marvelously quirky openings to every show!
  • Best one yet, sure wish I could buy the podcast version of these songs!  Keep it up Perry!!
  • I got hooked on BRYHNH while experimenting with podcasts on my (new)
iPhone.  I am telling my friends it.
  • From the Netherlands, thanks for your efforts in producing a biweekly podcast to look forward to.
  • Amazing, thanks so much Perry
  • Been listening on and off all afternoon. Another eargasm.
  • Love the music! Great mix~
  • Can't wait to hear this on my ride to work tomorrow the selection looks great!
  • Cool Sound, thanks and cheers . . .
  • I can't stop listening to this! I rank this among my favorite podcasts . . .
  • Awesome eclectic collection!
  • Love your show! Newly discovered, can't wait for more!
  • I don't stay with any podcast long if it doesn't resonate with me. Rarely does this happen with BRYHNH.
  • I just started listening, and really enjoy your podcasts (yes, I did subscribe as well).  Thanks for the excellent podcasts.
  • I don't know where you find all this awesome music but I'm glad you do and want to thank you sincerely for putting this out. I've been telling everyone about it. Thanks so much.
  • I could be the giddiest kid on the block right now. I have been devouring these episodes and will be bummed when I have to wait two weeks for a new one.
  • Great as usual. This one will be great for my 1:20 commute. thank you.
  • Great job Perry, from the UK.
  • As ever, aural magic.
  • As always thanks!
I download every episode for my drive time.
  • Another masterpiece Perry.
A huge thanks for your time and effort.
  • Perry, thank you for this.
    Made my day.
  • Thanks for this great work.
  • Oh my gosh the king is back!
I was hoping Perry would reconstruct this.
  • Been listening on and off all afternoon. Another eargasm.
  • Another excellent listening adventure, thank you
  • Regards from the wild side of the Atlantic
  • As usual your music is timely and unique. I look forward to the 1st and the 15th of each month . . .
    Thanks for all you do.
  • I drive more than an hour each way going to and from work and the brilliant mix of music always keeps me entertained.
  • Fantastic music programming. Basically use it as a radio station on my mp3 player. Have listened to all of the programs up to date probably 4-5 times, and still not even close to bored. One of my favorite things is listening to a familiar song done differently or by another artist. Keep up the great work.
  • I have been listening to your podcast for years from the Netherlands, so thanks for your efforts in producing a biweekly podcast to look forward to. Excellent to listen to when driving and always a theme to connect everything.
Frequently I hear some music I haven't heard before, inspiring me to
    investigate further.
  • I started working night shifts a month ago and in our office we have a shared radio. the default station of choice has a regular rotation of 80s and 90s pop tracks as well as a collection of irritating jingles. i guess what I'm saying is thank you for being a musical oasis in this bland commercial desert.
  • Love your show man, I tell everyone I know to listen.  Keep up the awesome work!
  • Living abroad and out of western culture for a while has left me
missing my old LP collection and it's refreshing to hear some of the
tunes you spin; especially the lesser known. I was so happy to
hear someone with such a  varied selection! Ah, memories.
  • What can I say man, your name says it all
Today was the first time I attempted to get a podcast going and I couldn't
have found a better one to start it all off.  The Names of your shows are
kickass, and the music even better, I'm lovin it all!
  • Bax Rox!!!
Perry for President (and the Canines for
    the Cabinet) !!!
  • "Perry is an alcoholic beverage made from fermented pears and has been common for centuries in England..." well that may be so, but this fantastic podcast that plays classic tracks old and new is a real heady mixture that is intoxicating in its own unique way.
  • Just an observation about iTunes - the new iTunes radio (set to the "discovery" setting - does not offer the surprise factor that Mr. Bax has going on with BRYHNH. Guess I'm spoiled . . .

  • Best one yet, sure wish I could buy the podcast version of these songs!
    Keep it up Perry!!
  • As usual a great show. Just so well put together. You are so good to listen to. Work is so much better.
  • DAMN that's some good listening !

  • Find myself sweating blood for each new episode. In between I go back and suck on the juices of the past. Must I be reminded of DARK Shadows.
Thanx for keeping my veins cursing.
  • You astound me with your choice of music.you blow me away with the quality of music. You have brought back the love of music in me....thanxs
  • Turn off that lame a$$ thing you're listening to that passes for radio and get thee hence...
  • Great, Perry! Just great! I look forward to the 1st and 15th every month. I love how you always weave seemingly disparate songs into a musical tapestry for the ear... It's like Christmas for this music junkie twice a month!
  • Hey Perry, your latest podcast is awesome, so is your new website.
  • As usual a great show. Just so well put together. You are so good to listen to. Work is so much better.
    Cheers from Greece!
  • DAMN that's some good listenin'.
  • Find myself sweating blood for each new episode. In between I go back and suck on the juices of the past. Must I be reminded of DARK Shadows.
Thanx for keeping my veins cursing.
  • Fantastic as usual. Thanks again Perry :)"
  • Love your show man, I tell everyone I know to listen.
    Keep up the awesome work!
  • Love your show man, I tell everyone I know to listen.
    Keep up the awesome work!
  • Did not look at the playlist....popped it in the car CD player and smiled even on the damned L. I. Expressway.
  • You are the best Perry, thanks!
  • Hey Perry, love your show. Keep up the great picks.

  • I just discovered your podcast and I listened to this episode at work tonight. It is a huge understatement to say that I am blown away by the music you played on this podcast!!! I'm a fan now and I will be listening to every show as well as downloading all the previous episodes!!!
  • BRYHNH is REAL and not some phony assed commercial enterprise
  • Perry's choices stuke and knowledge are second to none... For an American ha ha. The scale of different music I have found or rediscovered even at age 49 is staggering, new and old.
  • Otherwise known as BPKTMOW (best podcast known to man or woman)
  • I recently downloaded a few of these podcasts and this is GREAT...
The name is right! If your flying somewhere put a few of these on your iPad and enjoy.
  • I like the variety of music. I like that each show is somehow tied to current events, or a common theme. I especially enjoy the inclusion of the more obscure live tracks and "B" sides.
    Those are musical treasure!
  • Once in a while, things get a bit political. I don't always agree with Perry, but I respect him for his willingness to stand up for his principles.
  • BRYHNH rocks!
Great music and its put together by a Guy who knows REALLY KNOWS.
  • Perry's presentation style is great. Helped me rediscover so much music I love and introduced me to a whole lot more.
  • Unique material (e.g. live tracks- demos). Brilliant variety of music. Anglophile (when it comes to music!
  • Great selection of songs each podcast, often with very timely and significant theme
  • I am a music fan from Ottawa, Ontario who has just discovered BRYHNH. Your choice of music is right in my wheelhouse. Well done--you definitely have a new fan, and I am spreading the word to my contemporaries.
  • I love the way that Perry Bax makes an eclectic selection of music tracks into an organic whole
  • Good combo of old (& sometimes forgotten) favorites, tunes I missed when released, and new, good selections
  • A very eclectic selection of music which matches my tastes. It's great to have such a variety and be introduced to something new and be reminded of
    something old.
  • Perry promises a show twice a month and he delivers that
  • Perry Bax has a deep domain of music knowledge which he freely shares with his listeners.

  • Just one word: Brill!!
Thanks for the ride! I'm hooked!!
  •  It rolls off the tongue like melted butter saying this is the best radio you have never heard.
  • Another show. Another killer audio assault.
"I don't know how to stop" as PG says. Personally applies to beer and listening to BRYHNH.
  • Thank you to Perry et al (for consistently putting out fine tunes bi-monthly for all of us out here in the ether)
  • It's like I said put together the perfect podcast for us to have dinner on the patio on a perfect late spring night.
  • Does the excellence of all this show KNOW no bounds . . . ?
OK, I've said enough. This is the shit . . .
  • Thank you Perry! Enjoyed BRYHNH on my Saturday morning here in England
  • I have been traveling like a mad person....NY to Cincy, driving to Columbus, back to Cincy and then a drive from Chesapeak Va to DC....hours of windshield time are deadly UNLESS YOU Have the BEST RADIO YOU HAVE NEVER HEARD !
  • Just discovered BR. Awesome!
  • Had to drive to boston and back in two days. 6 hrs of 'windshield time' previous week down at the Jersey shore. 3+ hrs both ways and beach lounge time with the trusty iPod and "Perry Recommends" headphones, playing endless hours of the back catalog and the last few shows. Still blown away. Thank you sir.
  • I'm listening to the last two shows in reverse order as I was away at festivals. Lordy, this new one hit me broadside!

  • Does the excellence of all this KNOW no bounds . . . ?
OK, I've said enough.  This is the shit (does that mean what i think it does?)
  • Commercial radio is now officially DEAD.
And you Mr Perry Bax are responsible for hammering the final rusty nail into its' slowly beating heart.
  • What I like most about your podcasts is that they introduce me to new music. I have no idea where to hear new music, as I don't listen to FM anymore.
  • Another classic Perry-looking forward to the 15th already!
  • Just reading the setlist...can't wait!
  • Holy Sh*t..that is so damned good...W-0-W. Your sire, are the best
  • Excellent choices again, Perry, just finished listening, Now I think I'll just listen again (can't get too much of a good thing!)

  • We listen to Perry's pod cast all the time in the house.
  • Don't know how Perry finds all those amazing recordings.
    It's brilliant!
  • Another set of "classic picks"  Perry, excellent choices again.
  • --- you have impeccable song orders---
  • Thank you Perry!
Here is Shanghai we rejoice every time a new episode is posted.
  • WARNING:
Listening to the back catalogue may mean that you almost miss your stop.
  • Another multi-listen podcast again!!!!

  • Really digging the groove on this one...great feel for a long flight to oblivion.
  • At long last I'm finally taking the time to grab every episode of BRYHNH and boy I'm glad it's still here for me... What a treat going all the way back to the beginning...!
Sooooo many rare treats... Your work is appreciated!

  • I have been listening to Rock and Roll since I was a kid and what I love about your podcasts is you play a lot of the great old stuff on your podcast and new music that I would never hear if it wasn't for you.
  • Another episode I can burn for the morning commute and set the tone for any day. We can all enjoy the snow with a bit more insight.
  • I listen to your podcast while commuting by bike - great music!
  • Although everyone will have heard most of the tunes before I don't think anyone will have heard these versions ever, nice one
  • Another "keeper" Perry! Keep up the good work-just finished listening to podcast on C.D.- nothing short of brilliant.

  • Terrific Show. Been listening to it all morning.
  • I just happened upon this site and am listening to this set. It's an awesome collection of songs and so are several of the live versions here. Thanks for putting this together!
  • Some eclectic, some exotic, all excellent. Keep on keepin on.
  • Just discovered this website. Very professional production.
Another classic Perry, that's one of the best versions of "Mercury Blues" I've heard
  • This is a great mix, your mum must be rocking away for her birthday. It's the soundtrack to our UK office today!
  • You are like a hurricane! Once again an outstanding podcast.
  • With the power out for a week in CT...the podcast again proves to be worth gallons of gas from a generator...if one can buy one that is...
  • Great Podcast Again. For me your podcasts always get multiple listens until the grooves wear out. Great segways throughout. Can't remember when the last time I heard lots of these on the radio. Yes Never.... so Thanks
  • Another collection of great sounds Perry, keep up the great work, looking forward to the first of October already !

  • Perry, you are The Man. I couldn't have wished for more. Bravo!
  • Epic as ever Perry, this one will "shorten" my 8 hour bus trip next week.
  • enough to make a warped frustrated old man smile while spinning his web
  • Thanx for absolutely everything.
Your picks have always been my favz.
    Through your music we connect.

  • Your podcast rocks.
  • Some eclectic, some exotic, all excellent. Keep on keepin on.
  • I have listened to everyone for of your GREAT podcasts for several years and must tell you it brings a lot of musical pleasure to a lot of people two times each month.
  • Fucking awesome, Perry
  • You are like a hurricane! Once again an outstanding podcast.
  • Hey Perry - fine stuff coming out of your show, great work background tunage. I've got a lot of past episodes to dig. Keep it up.
  • Speaking for those of us who only recently discovered your wonderful podcasts - DAMN YOU! DAMN YOU ALL TO HECK! I only listen to the magical music machine while doing house and yard chores - I've been working/listening so much lately that my wife wonders what transgression I'm making up for. What a wonderful job you do.
Thanks for making my life a bit better!
  • Love your show, man :)
Listened to the most previous two last night while driving around.
Very neat diverse rock collection yet you're picking stuff that's totally listenable.
  • Although everyone will have heard most of the tunes before I don't think anyone will have heard these versions ever, nice one.
  • Love this Perry! Great job.I feel 17 years old again!
  • Another "keeper" Perry! Keep up the good work-just finished listening to podcast on CD- nothing short of brilliant.
  • Nice one again Perry, something old, something new, your doing a damn fine job, keep on keeping on.
  • The best podcast, really. thank you.
  • Thanks for the great show!
I downloaded every volume in iTunes, so I have a lot of catching up to do. Already started spreading the word at work !
  • This is my new favorite podcast. I love the set list format, with the songs in the sets showing in the show description on the iPod. Great music, and I've started supported the podcast by purchasing music through the iTunes links. Please don't change a thing. You've brought a lot of music back to me that was out of sight and out of mind so to speak.
  • The Best Radio You Have Never Heard" has been posting some great shows as of late. Host Perry plays an eclectic mix of styles ranging from classic to modern, focusing on good songwriting and musicianship.
  • One of the best entirely musical podcasts that you can enjoy! Show after show, Perry manages to deliver the new hot stuff, the classic oldies and some non-commercial-indie music to our ears. Ribbed, for your pleasure.
  • Also big thanks to Perry Bax, the legendary producer and manager of bands all around the globe.
It´s always a pleasure to listen to his great podcast with really chosen music at bestradiopodcast.com.
  • This is one of my favorite podcast ever!
Especially recommended for friends of my age or for younger generation who need to rediscover what rock music is all about.
  • What I like about your podcasts is that you bring us up to date on what some of the great musicians are doing these days, I mean as far as new recordings, collaboration, reissuing albums, etc.  Where else am I going to find out about that?
  • You combine the good new music with the great old tunes.  And, you wrap them all in a theme, that sometimes gets me to chuckle.  That's your gift.
  • You've introduced me to new music, and I don't even know where to go to hear new music.  I'm certainly not going to hear that on my local FM radio station.  And shows that are new music shows - like college stations that play only alternative - really don't attract me to listen to them because some of the new music really isn't music.
  • You just don't hear some of these great tunes any more on terrestrial radio, and not on satellite radio.
  • Your Podcast is outstanding.
I've been listening to each episode for the last six months. Never disappointed.
  • Each episode is like a Chicago deep dish pizza with all the toppings spiced with that splash of sauce when I take a bite of that chewy crust with its pockets of tasty delights.
  • I found your site performing a search of classic rock podcasts to check out for possible inclusion on our show schedule.  Yours was about the only one worth looking into further basically because of the uniqueness of it.
  • Just wanted to say "thank you" again for all the effort you put into getting us new music twice every month. I have spent the last month in my cabin in northern Wisconsin, no electricity, no running water, no indoor plumbing but with your music, my mp3 player, some external speakers and a bunch of rechargeable batteries...it is just like home. You do a great job and I just want to say "thank you" again.
  • Perry's mixes are just right for exercise, reading, road trips or just relaxing. I recommend this podcast to all my friends and even to people I don't like. It's just that good.
  • I gave up FM many years ago when I decided to not subject my hi fidelity audio system to any more commercials. I have been listening to Perry's podcast since 2007, and what I find is unique is the podcasts themes, the unique covers and alternative cuts, and the cool transitions from one track to the next. Keep up the good work, Perry. I recommend your podcast to everyone that loves good music.
  • As the owner of thousands of records [remember those?] and thousands of CD's [I can stop anytime I want to -- I just don't want to] I listen to BRYHNH and am consistently surprised by the mixture of interesting / unusual / compelling and rarely heard versions of songs I may have heard in other, more familiar versions, or of songs I have never heard by groups and artists who get little or no airplay in traditional formats. Perry . . . keep up the great work.
  • One of the things i am always most amazed is at the eclectic mix of tunes that Perry manages to muster podcast after podcast. There is such a wealth of music out there that is not being heard. and it's not just the oddball bands or the new music. It may be an alternate take of a song that we all know or a remix or a live version....all in all it is in fact the best radio you have never heard.
  • I am from UK and believe me there's no radio station playing anything like this at any side of the dial.
    Thanks Perry, another interesting podcast
  • The titles may be familiar but the versions quite often are unfamiliar.  Live tracks, covers, alternate takes, all make me take another look at the old familiars. I, too, have been listening since at least 2007 and have heard every episode Perry has posted. Some several times. I look forward to each new one. Keep them coming.
  • The tracks on BRYHNH in my view, are for folks who have tired of getting their music in traditional fashion-i.e listening to several radio stations and looking for something new and those who really Know their music and are looking for a special version or live version. Finally, I look for new artists and combinations of artists that are outside of the commercial realm.
  • I thoroughly enjoy Perry's site and look forward to hearing what he has put together....I find it far superior to anything on the dial....I also love the relevance to current events and his always humors spin! I do not perceive myself as a musical snob but I do know what I like! I have and will continue to recommend this site to all who appreciate music that cannot be found on the radio! Thank you once again Perry, your efforts are truly appreciated!
  • Thanks Perry for the amazing show!! I find all kinds of great songs that i have never heard and in fact artists whose name I have heard but music I had never heard. When I hear some shows I think "where in the hell have I been???" Truly the best Radio I Have Never Heard!
  • You will never hear a block of music like Perry puts together, on the radio, anywhere.
  • Its not the playlist, but the podcast that makes BRYHNH unique.
Back in the day...before Perry's comments on the casts, before the playlists, it was always an adventure of what you might hear...maybe not a new song, but songs coupled that you would never hear on radio at least on the same station...like Rush (not a favorite of mine), Sinatra, and Jamey Johnson (a favorite of mine). Perry told me once that that a good song is a good song and it doesn't matter where it gets played.
  • You have such a great feeling for 1 - 12 (or 14, or 15, whatever the case may be)...
Always the perfect selection of tunes...in the Perfect order!
    Thank You Perry!
  • Perry, you, in addition to your podcast, ARE the best.
Heartfelt thanks for your labor of love and the many great hours of musical joy, enlightenment and surprise.
  • There are some free form radio stations playing a little bit of everything, but NOT the hard to find "one-off" alternate takes, live versions, independents, regional bands, and eclectic mixes that work so well together like on Best Radio.
  • I have traveled the US and the world for the last 30 years and I have never found anything like BRYHNH.
  • Thanks for all your hard work and dedication! As a music lover I really appreciate it. This is what radio should be. Keep up the GREAT work.
  • Every episode is like a complex movie plot. Each time I listen I hear something new in each episode
  • Finally got caught up listening to your podcasts. tt was eating away at me that I may have missed something great in the past few months. Staying in during heavy snowfalls this weekend & installing a new dishwasher was made special catching up with BRYHNH & yes I had missed a shitload of great tracks :-)
  • Just keep up the brilliant work Perry.....
I have loads of your shows downloaded & have never found one I did not like!
I Listen to them at random on occasion while working around the house...
    Rock on!
  • Hi Perry,
Just wanted to say "thank you" again for all the effort you put into getting us new music twice every month. I have spent the last month in my cabin in northern Wisconsin, no electricity, no running water, no indoor plumbing but with your music, my mp3 player, some external speakers and a bunch of rechargeable batteries...it is just like home. You do a great job and I just want to say "thank you" again.
  • I started listening to the oldest podcasts yesterday and continued today while in my office. Nice to go back to some of the first that you sent out. I really enjoyed them.
  • Still sounding great and always worth downloading. Keep up the great work!!!!!
  • The sound quality is EXCELLENT!!!  I think it's probably the best quality soundcast I've ever heard on the net. Highly recommended,
  • The Best Radio You Have Never Heard makes me take back everything nasty I've ever said about podcasting.
    What makes this one different?
Not giving a shit about whether or not music is "podsafe" (a word I'm starting to loath,) for one.
The second being the late seventies free-form radio vibe.
I'm picking up what this cat's laying down. Go man go !
  • Hey Perry,
Thanks for turning us onto the podcasts. Terrific. I've heard some favorite tunes like, D.I.Y. ... and some not-so-favorites like that Ted Nugent tune.  I do really appreciate the diversity of the musical content, and also the absence of commercials. The podcasts reminded me of what FM radio USED to be like, in its best days, and ought to be like now. Challenging.
  • The Best Radio You Never Heard podcasts have been absolutely wonderful!  I have enjoyed every last one.  I plan to spread the word about BRYHNH.  I have other friends and some nephews who would enjoy it.
  • Great work my friend
    Keep it up

  • Best Radio You've Never Heard podcasts, Man I'm in heaven! Your podcasts are the closest reflection of my own tastes I have found thus far!

  • Sooperb !
I'm being Murdered by Alfred Hitchcock at the moment ...
    Just what I needed !
Your another Talented Guy on this old www . . .
  • I am now addicted!
Perry's "The Best Radio You Have Never Heard" is wonderful!
  • Hi, this is the best podcast i've found on the internet. your choice of songs and the way they are put together is great! Thanks again from Holland for those great shows!

  • Perry finds the most amazing music that is almost impossible to find anywhere else. He always provides insightful commentary and I know he knows what he's talking about. There is always something for everyone; no matter who is listening each show is entertaining and his themes are always relevant.
  • varied mix of new acts Ive never heard before and old acts Id forgotten about.
  • great selection of never heard songs - good sequencing of songs
  • I like the variety in the musical selections. There are often 'B' sides, live, and unreleased tracks. Mr. Bax's taste in music closely matches my own.
  • Thank you for all your hard work through out the years for entertaining us followers. I know how much work goes into putting a show together and the time involved. You do a great job, and every music geek I've turned onto your show respects everything you've done.
  • You are my fix for "mainstream" music, since you play the good stuff and things I may have missed. Listening to the podcast all day today in China has brought me a little bit of home, and has helped relive some of the homesickness i have been feeling.
  • Great Job, loved listening to some great golden oldies and some tunes I'd really never heard before.
    Keep the music coming....
  • A really good episode Perry, really good.
One of those times when I liked everything top to bottom.
  • Perry YOU my son are the KING of Chicago
  • hi perry,
i recently discovered this little gem of a podcast and now im hooked. an englishman travelling australia and plan to be on the road for a while, ur shows have made my journey even more memorable.
keep it up my friend :)
  • I get a little cranky about music, at times, but, overall, am very impressed with your show.
It's the kind of thing I wanted to do back in the 70's but no station would touch it.
  • Sweeeet......thanks Perry, another great podcast!
Some look forward to Friday's, others Christmas....me, I look forward to the 1st and 15th of each month!!!!!
  • I know what I'm listening to on the way to work tomorrow.
  • If you guys have not heard this podcast it is usually quite good. I like the variety of textures, tunes, and tones.
  • Sorry about pathetic pathos and bad english :)
Thanks, great music in your podcasts, just keep going ( I like your taste in music ;)
  • Fripp and Hackett in the same podcast??? swoon...you're my hero!!!
  • Love the show and avid listener!
  • Perry, every week I look forward to a new episode....
I download to my iPod when I travel, I burn several weeks of shows on MP3's and play them on long road trips...
You have a gift .....thank you
  • Nice... past listener who kind of lost touch with this site until a recent Pink Floyd podcast you did on brain damage reminded me of the quality work you do Perry!
    Really enjoy your efforts!
  • Finally the new website! I think it's really fantastic.
    Greetings from Italy.
  • Hey Perry your latest podcast is awesome, so is your new website.
    Cheers from Greece!
  • Are you that guy from High Fidelity?
    Great site, excellent song lists.
  • Found this by accident, and loving it.
Gotta admit I had never heard any of the versions I just listened to!

    Keep up the good work.
  • "One Goal" is awesome and your work continues to be important.
  • Ahhhhhhh!
Very nice new web site indeed!
It's sort of like a going to a concert, I need to get a Tee shirt to show everyone where I have been!
    Pod-Cast excellent as usual . . .
  • Love the new website !
  • I've been trawling through your back catalogues once more.
Have you been plundering my records?
  • Found this by accident, and loving it.
Gotta admit I had never heard any of the versions I just listened to!
    Keep up the good work.
  • This is awesome !!! Everyone I've shared with really enjoys your show.
  • Great music, great segues from one to another, little talking, overall most awesome podcast out there.
The only downside is that i don't have time to go back and listen to every edition . . .
    But I'm trying!

  • I love this show. Perry never fails to amaze me.

  • No repeats, that's what makes listening so good.
sick and feed up of UK radios endless 10-15 song playlists, at least on radio 1  and some of the larger UK stations.
I hope you realize that you may be saving radio.
  • Thank you for the best radio I have ever heard, Thanks to these wonderful podcasts,  my  young son and daughter are discovering music I grow up listening to.. it's so cool  to hear an 8 and 5 year old singing Pink Floyd songs at the top of there voices on the school bus. Keep up the good work.
  • Hi Perry,
    Thank you for the music!
I have a a personal CD collection of 400 CDs comprising of all classic/progressive rock artistes one can think of but what BRYHNH has done is opened up new musical taste horizons for me and now I play nothing else in my car but your music! I live in Dubai and the FM here plays nothing but the Top 40 of the last 10 years incessantly so your music has brought a whiff of fresh oxygen in my musical life!
Please keep up the wonderful work!
    Peace and love.
  • Perry, I totally enjoyed your podcast which I downloaded last
week...especially the sort of acoustic version of "Big Country". No
hip-hop, which is refreshing to say the least. (Not that there's
anything WRONG with hip-hop...I'm just too old). Your unintrusive
commentary reminds me of the good old days of FM radio. Thanks for
putting together such an enjoyable piece of work.
  • I'm sorry I've never posted a comment before but I've been a listener for a long time. I have many of the same musical interests. It's a welcome sound when I catch things like Gilmour's "Mihalis" or King Crimson's "Matte Kudasai" or Genesis' "Firth of Fifth" in the shows. Hopefully it inspires some people to explore some of the great old music as I have also explored some newer things I've heard here. And I've passed your link on to some friends to check out as well. I enjoy the shows and enjoy trying to putting the links together. Thanks for a great show.
  • I look forward to your podcast every week.  So far, yours  is the best that
I've found around the 'net. Thanks for all of your  efforts.
  • Brilliant, no other podcast like it for mixing old and new and stretching my music horizons.

  • Been listening to the podcasts for some months now, ever since the UK's Independent newspaper gave you a name check.
  • I'm really contacting you to let you know you are my HERO!!!!
Your podcasts have been a delight and I thank you for including me in your musical loop, Perry.  I have enjoyed them immensely. Congratulations on your recognition.  Well deserved, my friend.
  • Just wanted to say we all listened to the podcast
and it's great. It's a very cool show and you can
tell what a great sense of music you have.
  • THIS IS GREAT STUFF !
  • Just a quick note to let you know that I have down loaded your last four shows for my listening pleasure over the next few weeks. Your podcasts go with me while I bus back and forth to work every day and make the journeys much more enjoyable. I was browsing through the few comments you receive and noticed they are posted by guys only.  Be assured that at least one lady is listening to your sets.

  • Hey Perry, just wanted to thank you for the freaking awesome job you do!  I love your website and look forward to all the great music you post...you are a national treasure....thank you, thank you...happy holidays!!!!!!!!!!!
  • First of all I want to say I love the Show. I love the eclectic mix and I also like the way you have "Themed" your shows......I have an extensive mix of music myself...but Damn!! you must have a freakin huge library of tunes......anyway...can't wait to hear future shows....oh BTW I have listened to most of your back shows and I am downloading as i type...keep up the great work and as always ...Its only Rock and Roll and I like it !!!!!
  • Hiya Perry,
Firstly, i wish to thank you for the cool pod-casts that you have made available. You have opened the door to a whole new variety of artists.
  • hi Perry,
just a note to say how much I enjoy the podcast and aprieciate your efforts.Very much! Of the 20 odd casts I get yours is always the most welcome. keep up the good work it is working on me.
  • Dear Mr. Bax,
Now that my employer has provided me with an upgraded computer and I figured some stuff out I was able to listen and enjoy your podcast this morning. I especially enjoyed hearing your friendly voice while I worked on a writing assignment - the kind of which I tend to procrastinate on.  Thanks for helping me get through it.
  • As usual, I  always look forward to the 1st & 15th....
  • I loved every broadcast I've listened to and I especially liked
20-20 Hindsight-Music Only, The Revolution Is Being Televised,
    Thick Empty Skul
  • Wanted to say that i love your site and podcasts.
I am listening your Podcasts here in Merano/Italy, in the Heart of the Dolomites. Go on with this great job, have fun!
  • I've turned my friends on to the show & the reaction is the same
Put Perry on the launching pad & prepare for lift-off!
    You go!!
  • Love your show, it's like listening to a great radio station that doesn't exist or hasn't for a long time: say KFMH Muscatine Iowa or Beaker Street.
  • Just found your show last weekend, it truly is The Best Radio Show I've Never Heard.
Great job and thank for putting it together.
  • After stumbling across this great podcast a few months ago, I wanted to thank you for all the hours of diverse, surprising and wonderful music I have enjoyed. I have a few episodes synced to my phone for my commute from Delft to the Hague in the Netherlands, and that always lifts my spirits (even before I have had my morning coffee!.) Keep it up, I have discovered some great artists via your podcasts!
  • Good Morning Perry,
It's the first and it is 4:30Am in Calif. and I am already downloading your next show...I wait for the 1st and the 15th as I know we get new "music" those days...Thanks!!! Great shows and music. Thanks!!!
  • I really do love the 'cast, reminds me of the kind of radio that's been lost to Clear Channel, talk-radio blowhards, rampant commercialism, etc. I zapped your link on to a few friends and family and trust they'll do the same so you can keep the shows coming.
Thanks, Perry, it's good, good stuff for these wacko times.
  • This is the best podcast site bar none. I just started downloading these things into my iPod about 2 months ago & just cannot get enough . . .
Nothing on Buffalo (NY) radio can compare, especially when it comes to different versions of older tunes, e.g. Lamb Lies Down in Broadway & Fleetwod Mac's live version of the Chain, just to name a couple...
    Once again, great tune selection . . . don't change a thing . . .
  • OK - I'm fairly new to podcasts, I stumbled across your feeds and they are bloody excellent - I really enjoy listening to them.
Downloaded RSS player a month or so ago and did some searching on available podcasts. I found the Best Radio casts and have not listened to anything since !!
It must take you ages to compile the shows - so thanks - they are much appreciated.
    Keep up the good work.
  • i wish to thank you for the cool pod-casts that you have made available. You have opened the door to a whole new variety of artists.
  • Greetings from across the pond here in Yorkshire. It's like having a new compilation tape every week. Nice mix of US and UK sounds. Loads of stuff I've not heard before including most of the 70's Prog you include. Working my way through the back issues at the moment.
  • Perry
This is the absolute best compiled rock on the planet. Period
Magoo you have done it again!
  • First of all I want to say I love the Show. I love the eclectic mix and I also like the way you have "Themed" your shows......I have an extensive mix of music myself...but Damn!! you must have a freakin huge library of tunes...
  • The variety is eclectic, and the selection of live and remixed versions of otherwise familiar songs is a real draw. I'm still wandering through the vast backlog of shows, so the easily readable tracklists are useful in finding my way. Music, like any other form of information, wants to be free, and your podcasts are indeed a liberating experience.
  • There are a number of podcasts I've started listening through lately, and BRYHNH is one of the better.  I especially appreciate the 80 minute formatting, which is convenient for transfer to a CD for listening to in the car where a better sound quality is important or for transfer to the computers at work where they like to block any website with podcast in the title.
  • These shows are typically pretty good to pretty great. But this one is absolutely amazingly great. I was out of my chair within a minute of White Punks on Dope and there's so so so much more to go.
  • Perry, I started listening to your Podcast when my employer blocked me from listening to the radio... Love the music selection! I love hearing previously unheard songs from artists I've known for years. Keep up the good work.
  • In the few weeks that I have been listening to all of your volumes, you have enlightened me to music I've never heard before.....and I consider myself a bit of a music connoisseur with more of a taste for the unpopular, sometimes obscure bands that are awesome but never got the mega radio play.
  • Perry, you're a freakin' genius!!!!  For years I have always wondered why radio stations (especially these days) never play anything but corporate crap.  Of course, I understand why ($$$$$$$$$$) but still, there's so much incredible stuff out there that people are totally unaware of.  Well my friend, YOU'RE DOING IT!!!!!!
  • Wow, I found this site and my life has changed. Great music: known, unknown
    and surprising! Thanxs!
  • The songs are from tracks most have never heard before, many live and some just recorded and seem to be unreleased. Kind of like the best of the hidden tracks! Also the genre of music varies within each podcast and since my music background encompasses so many different genres I like it immensely.
  • Friendly Host, Great selection of content, always updated regularly and on time, quite simply there is no other podcast like it around, I cannot praise it enough!

  • Perry Bax is independent, knowledgeable, affable and his musical choices are very interesting to me.
  • A large variation of musical styles that somehow seem to sound right when played together.
  • Perry constantly surprises me with songs I love, but have long forgotten.
  • Variety of music, high quality audio, well executed show.
  • The mix is great and very good information by the host.
  • Music is really great and new....and its is exactly what it delivers
  • Interesting covers of off the wall tracks. Great length for your average listener. Well executed theme for all shows that are consistent from episode to episode. Perry is an excellent host with vast knowledge of the music he plays plus the music biz. Overall high production value.
  • I like the content - not just the usual predictable fare, but bands and versions I haven't heard before. Musical taste in line with my own but more knowledgeable and able to guide me in new directions as well as playing a few favourites that I don't hear much elsewhere.  One of the best free podcasts I've found anywhere...
  • Packed with variety. Intergenerational appeal. Funky edgy music from today melding seamlessly with classic tracks from other times. Friendly informed host.
  • There's almost always a song that I like that I've forgotten about over the years. I like the mix of new music and older music.
  • It gives me an opportunity to listen to music that I wouldn't otherwise listen to. I like the covers of the songs that I grew up with. I like the concert cuts of songs that I know. It has a high wackiness factor, and I like that.
  • Mix of music you don't hear anywhere else, so you can listen without the repetitive fatigue such as what you experience with commercial radio.
  • This it is REAL and not some phony assed commercial enterprise
  • I heard music I haven't heard in years and wouldn't remember existed otherwise. I also hear great things I've never heard before.

  • Good, themed music with a great intro to each episode putting one in the mood for the music.
  • Most original music podcast out there.
  • Just plain LOVE this Podcast. Keep up the good work Perry!
  • It is unlike anything else out there. It is intelligent and appeals to your senses. It is not driven by the commercial. It Rocks!

  • It just rocks! The best mixes I've ever heard
  • Hi Perry, just downloaded 133 pretty good damned music !
Christ I can remember buying "Lizard" 40 bloody years ago(I just dug the album out-its in better condition than me !)
    Keep up the good work!
  • Just wanted to say that the last podcast was great!!! I am traveling in Mexico for 4 weeks and was able to download the podcast on the first of the month and it is great!!!
    Thanks for all your work.
  • I'm from the Netherlands and I think you're really doing a great job with your podcasts. I'm always listening during long walks with my dog Sammy. Keep up the good work!
  • Just gotta say I love the BRYHNH podcast. I've been listening for the last 3 years, and look forward to it every time!!
  • Hi Perry.
Thanks yet again for another excellent podcast. I particularly enjoy the Thompson Twins track (with the vinyl crackle!!)
Already looking forward to your next podcast - two weeks seems like such along time!
  • Hey Perry,  Just wanted to let you know I'm still listening. I haven't felt the need to comment because your shows are flawless, with no room for improvement. Keep up the good work - people really enjoy the music that you assemble.
  • I have been listening to you for a very very very long time.
Love your shows. In fact, I listen at work and I can honestly say that I don't know how I would've gotten through some days without your shows.
  • Perry, I started listening to your Podcast when my employer blocked me
from listening to the radio... Love the music selection! I love hearing
previously unheard songs from artists I've known for years. Keep up the
    good work.
  • Thanks for the brilliant podcasts  - they've done much to rekindle my interest in music with the great mix of old and new that you bring together.

  • Never a boring moment and you do such an amazing job at finding the most random killer stuff, Perry.
  • It was great to catch up on the podcasts, now the expat bar I go to in China, insists I bring my ipod with me and plug it in for A few hours when I pop in.
I just toss on your podcast and the party gets going. I do give your show the credit. The older expats are amazed with who plays the covers, the young Chinese folk are amazed with the variety of western music. They all know I used to work in music and for me to share music I love with them has really given me a smile, thanks for the help
  • Hey Perry
Man this is one badass podcast!!
  • I sat at work today and thought to myself, "What song could I request of Perry that he might play in the podcast and mention my name...as I thought about it, i realized, you probably have played any song I could think of outside of the mainstream.  I'll leave the podcast and song choices up to the professional.  :)  Honest truth, I have over 2000 songs on my ipod and I listen to your podcast the most.  Thanks!
  • i have downloaded almost all of the previous episodes and have been enjoying every note of it.  Call it chance that my ears met your songs. :)
  • I've been listening off an on for over a year.  I got a new iPod a couple years back and discovered podcasts.   I tried numerous podcasts and radio shows, then i came across yours.  Did a generic search in iTunes for music podcasts to find it.  Heard 2 episodes and I was hooked.
  • I only discovered your show yesterday, but I did listen to Disgracing the Family.  I'm hoping to listen to a few more episodes this weekend.  It seems to be quite the eclectic mix.  Which I love (sometimes I have trouble listening a CD of the same band all the way through without taking a break.)
  • Always a pleasure to download your podacst, burn it onto a CD and
listen whilst I'm driving to work.
Keep up the good work. You should have your own show....
  • Hey Perry, wanted to tell you the swine stew episode was a lot of fun, I especially loved the guitar "subtext" and DMB even though i am not usually a fan,  Paul McCartney combo gave me hope, tear to my eye, a sparkle for us mid -- aged artists!! thanks again
  • Hi Perry. I just finished listening to your latest podcast-show, and I must say that it's awesome. Really good song selection you performed there, a very very enjoyable show!
  • Thank you, I`m new in this podcasting stuff.
Recently, I've been looking for some good content with Google and finally i've found you.
No, I've never heard the show before.
Last night I downloaded manually the show to my mp3 player, and it's amazing!!!
    Thank You!!!
  • I really enjoy the show, the format is so unique, I can't get enough!!
  • I love the shows. I have heard so much great music and many things that I haven't heard it years.
I downloaded 100+ podcasts of The Best Radio You Have Never Heard and I listen to 3 different ones everyday while at work.
The mix of music is perfect.....keep up the great work!!!
I have searched high and low for other podcasts as great as yours but haven't had much luck.
  • You Do What It Says On The Tin.......................
big thank you ................just keep doing it.................
all the very best from england
  • First off, best podcast out there, bar none!
  • Perry:
I just have found this site and in this moments i´m downloading some of yours podcast, by this list of the songs and the site appearance i think it´ll be great.... Your selections is very good....

  • I am a big fan of your podcast.  I have been listening for about a year and a half to two years now.  My favorite part is the variety of songs that you play.  From songs I'm familiar with, to songs that I didn't previously know, to the obscure cover songs....its all great.  I play a game with myself to try and identify the songs and artists and then check if I'm right when you come in with the announcements.
  • I can't speak for everyone, but I do share the feeling that you make a "mixtape" for us each time you put the show together.  What amazes me is that each show is incrementally better than the last one...which was even better than the prior one!
Thanks, man...you are doing the cooking so the rest of us can eat (metaphorically speaking.)
  • I really enjoy the funny bit at the start of the show, and your ideas for themes really come through in the selection of the tunes.  The support of the website that lists the playlist really helps to tie together the theme and the song selection...and you have a wicked sense of humor and irony! It takes a bit of a twisted mind (guilt, here) to fully appreciate your intent.
  • Hope your holidays were wonderful and your are feeling better these days.  My iPod died, so I download the show and listen in on my workstation.  Cubicle life just got better, thanks to your efforts.
  • May I suggest the theme for Volume 100?  How about "The Underdog"??  You know...the kid that nobody had faith in makes good.  With your creativity, you can take an idea like this and make it happen.
So tell me Uncle Perry...what was it like when you and show were little?
  • I have been listening to your podcasts for a while, and finally decided to send you some just deserved feedback. I love music, and I find myself waiting for the new episodes to arrive to see what type of journey you will send me on. From Zappa's version of Stairway to heaven, to a solo piano rendition of Close to the Edge, this podcast offers the variety that I enjoy listening to. Please give yourself a pat on the back & keep doing what you do.

  • This is a great show. I suppose great times inspire such selections. Overall, I like how you include classic songs that are covered in often equally classic ways. I'm listening to the Allman Bros cover of The Night... as I write. Never heard it, but very nice.
  • I continue to slowly go through the many shows and try to do shows that were posted in the month we are in. So I'm listening to 2006-11-14 the_revolution_is_being_televised Vol 50 right now and early in the show you talk about the recent elections perhaps indicating the beginning of a change. You were far more correct than you could have imagined.
  • I'm like a kid in a candy store and I'm jumping from one show to another and jumping some more. Can't get enough. So much to listen to. I feel like I have to catch up right away, but know I can't.

  • And now a question for you: how do you do it? I really mean it. How can you come up with so many unique playlists for each show? Plus the added constraint of a theme. Or does a theme make it easier?
  • Jim from Jersey here and just discovered your site. Very very nice. I've been listening to music on the radio since 1950 and remember listening to it most of that time.
Looking forward to many hours and thanks for all the undoubtedly long days of hopefully incredibly worthwhile work.
  • I've been loving your podcast for over a year now. Everything you put together is golden; fabulous work, sir.
I love your back catalogue. I try to download as many as possible to play in our lab while we do experiments. It's got a great vibe.
  • Love the podcast I listen to it every week. Just sending out a hello
    from Canada.
  •  am in bed with a cold...but I do have some killer tunes to keep my spirits up...many thanks to you for brightening my day!
  • You actually topped yourself this time? No way. A killer podcast with an impossible theme and a clever tie-in to the best (and worst) of popular culture??  Man...you are "The King"!
  • Just what I have been looking for!
But expensive - I will be buying a lot of new music as a result!
    Keep up the good work.
  • Back when I first found "The Best Radio..." it was music only, but I like it better with a bit of commentary. I know many of the tunes though the version you play is often new to me. Thanks for introducing me to a lot of recent music. It's motivated me to buy some of the artists.  I've listened to all "The Best Radio..." shows three or four times over, and expect to continue to replay them.
  • I often get some exercise by inline skating the Pier Four to Coutes
Paradise Trail here in Hamilton, Ont. When skating I always listen to
music and yesterday I chose "Artists Only". It was great, the music
matched the rhythm of my skates, and I loved the selections. I listen
to all the Best Radio's but I gotta tell you Vol. 92 really struck a
    chord.
    Thanks for all your efforts.
  • Thanks again for your good works each 2 weeks. Keeps me movin' ..
  • It's the first and it is 4:30Am in Calif. and I am already downloading your next show...I wait for the 1st and the 15th as I know we get new "music" those days...Thanks!!! Great shows and music. Thanks!!!
  • Hi Perry
    Greetings from Australia
Just had to write to tell you that I enjoy your podcast very much indeed.
Of the 20 odd casts i receive yours is always the most rewarding.
Keep up the good work, you are kicking goals.
    Kind regards.
  • just a note to say how much I enjoy the podcast and appreciate your efforts. Very much! Of the 20 odd casts I get yours is always the most welcome. keep up the good work it is working on me.
    Kind regards from australia.
  • Great great stuff!!! By the way, I'm a new listener to the podcast, and so far I couldn't be more satisfied!
  • I was looking for good music podcasts and ended up in your site, which is sort of a music-podcast heaven... I mean, the track selection for each podcast is awesome, kudos for that!
  • I got an Zune 80gb for my birthday in April.  While exploring the podcasts available on the Zune Marketplace, I discovered The Best Radio You Have Never Heard.  I checked out a couple of the song lists and found you to be a kindred spirit in musical taste.  I downloaded the entire set of podcasts from the rss feed and started from the beginning with Floating Sex Bucket, The Best Radio You Have Never Heard, Volume 04.  Holy crap! "God damn it, Bax! You're a god damn genius!" to paraphrase the Drill Sergeant.
  • Usually, I spend the hours driving, by myself, across the wasteland of Northern Ohio and Indiana trying to find something, anything decent on the radio.  Not this year.  In addition to BRYHNH, I enjoyed the company of my spouse and teenage sons. They were unable to sleep because they wanted to stay awake and listen to the music!  Perry, not many people can put together radio that keeps everyone, male and female, from 13 to 44 years old awake and happy at the same time.  Once again, you are sheer audio genius. Thank you so much for BRYHNH and please keep the new ones coming.
  • I went to WIU from '83 - '87 and I have to thank you for expanding my musical horizons. I listened to you on WIUS all the time. A few times I would call you and give you some obscure detail about a band I was trying to think of or I would try to hum a few bars and you would always know the answer! And now I've found your podcast which is awesome. Believe it or not, I heard a song by Aztec Camera today and it made me think of your name. I Googled "Perry Bax" and found the podcast. You're a real gem, Perry. Keep up the good work
  • I'm extremely pleased I somehow found this podcast. Being that I am a younger Individual, I am always trying to improve my rock repertoire, and this allows me to do so without access to a radio at all moments.  Thanks, and keep the awesome tunes coming.
  • I heard about your podcast in a review on podcastreviews.com or reviewsofpodcasts.com... one of those.  It stuck in my head because the guy was really raving about you and your song selections and would have given you a perfect 10 out of 10 but he was disappointed that you didn't speak much at all.  lol.   Your playlists and your mix of songs is definitely awesome!  My taste in music is all over the place so this 'cast is right up my alley.  I'll definitely be subscribing!

  • Really enjoying the music which is a wonderful escape from the proverbial shite served up on most radio here in Oz
  • I am originally from Michigan but I use to work in Chicago from 1990 to 2002. I have been a WXRT listener/fan ever since, however, the company Jim and I work at stop Internet streaming at the first of the year. I was unable to listen to WXRT so finding your pod-casts was a godsend.
  • this issue is really something! Thank you very much, this is a great great great selection!!! Classic!
    Keep rocking! Cheers
  • I really enjoy your podcasts and have downloaded every one I could;I think one of the things I like best about your podcasts is that you frequently include versions of songs that I haven't heard and covers that I wasn't aware had been done. The way you put them all together works very well, too. Keep up the excellent work. Thanks to you, at least twice a month I have something great to listen to.
  • Keep up the great work! I enjoy every single one of your shows! Podcasts are my primary entertainment while on the road. I spent years just listening to the same 1,000 + cassette tapes over the years, but when I got my mp3 player, that all changed! I love not knowing what I'm going to hear next! Thanks for the fun!

  • I am slowly working my way through the Archives, really just picking out random shows and listening to those.
    Thanks again Perry, fantastic stuff!
  • Just to say, Great Podcast, just found it thanks to Brain Damage.
    Look forward to more!
  • Just listened to the first 36 minutes of NEVER FORGET and I have to tell you...it's nice to listen to.
I'm doing something sort of similar, shorter and with more breaks and local info, but still...I can hear the passion.
I will be back for more.
  • Fantastic music!!
Anyone who plays Loggins and Messina has great taste.!
I am checking out 2 or 3 of the back catalogs a day - what a great collection of music !
It's great sitting in my office doing some work with your music in the background.
Have told a few like minded friends and they are equally impressed.
    Thanks again.
  • Hi Perry,
New Year greetings from a new fan in England.
I was reading a national newspaper some days before Christmas and came across a snippet called "Download this..." Unfortunately, I can't remember which newspaper. I think it may have been "The Independent"
  • Just found your show last weekend, it truly is The Best Radio Show I've Never Heard.
Great job and thank for putting it together.
  • You continue to rock me with each new episode...thank-you.  My bus ride is never boring with BRYHNH on my iPod.
  • Today was the first time I attempted to get a podcast going and I couldn't
have found a better one to start it all off.  The names of your shows are
kick-ass, and the music even better, I'm loving' it all!
  • What I like about your 'casts is that they play really well, better than the play lists I hear on most stations. I almost wish you had kept the song lists less accessible; I don't always have the self control to wait until after I've listened.
  • Thought I'd write to say keep up the good work.  I started a new job recently in the highlands of Scotland and there are no radios.   I've got a lap top from work but they restrict the access for listening to radio stations.  So anyway, I've started to download your podcasts and listen to them every day at work.  I'm working backwards and I'm currently on number 65 I think.  Great tunes.  Nice one. Take it easy
  • I enjoyed listening to the podcast I downloaded and look forward to
listening to more of the same.
  • Just an email to say that I love this show, it's one of the most original podcasts I've heard. I think podcasts are a terrific way to discover new music and get away from playlist-led commercial radio. I have already told a couple of friends about this one.
  • Because of you, I had to buy a higher capacity iPod!  Just erased my hard drive for a fresh install of Vista Ultimate...and had to retrieve all back episodes of the show...because I have my favorites (Ball Bearing Paint Job, Game Over, Anything can Happen Day).  Your show is like the mix tape I always wanted to make, but never got around to.  You played "4th of  July" by the L.A. band "X"...now that is taste!
  • I don't know who you are or what motivates you...but I do that a new episode of the "The Best Radio You Have Never Heard Podcast" is the highlight of my month!
You are a genius with a finely honed sense of humor.  Thank-you for your efforts.  You don't know me, but your work makes me happy.
  • Very nice! Makes dull work a bit more palatable. You have "The Art of Noise" in there. Are you kidding me? Thought I was the only one who listened to them anymore. Surprised I didn't hear any TMBG :-) Good thing I forgot my MP3 player at home today and had to find alternative entertainment.
  • I really dig the show. I have listened to your 4 last podcasts today while I was gardening and I enjoyed them. I am in a heavy downloading mission now, getting the rest. I have sent a message to my friends in USA and Europe recommending your podcasts. I subscribed to the mailing list and I will stay tuned for further podcasts! I have a daily 90 minute commute each way and depending on the day, a long waiting time between patients, so your shows will keep me company, plenty of time to catch up :)
  • Well, I cannot thank you enough for your podcasts. Many of the artists who already graced my I-pod plus many new I had not heard before. I am always looking for new (and old) interesting and intelligent music. You got a new listener and fan. Seriously, here in NJ, what's with Elton John, Creed and Rod Stewart 24/7 in every radio station? Please, give me a break. If you ever come to the Philly area, let me know, a lunch or dinner is on me!
  • I have been enjoying your radio podcasts for a year. I really look forward to them. Thanks for the great shows that you put on.
Sometimes I don't know how I'd get thru' the day at work or wake up on Saturday mornings.
  • I loved every broadcast I've listened to and I especially liked 20-20 Hindsight, The Revolution Is Being Televised and Thick Empty Skull.
I live in the Netherlands. The music in your broadcasts is
just what I like to listen to. Keep it up.
  • I am enjoying "The Best Radio You Have Never Heard". Thank you for the
    compilations.
    I really like the music.
  • I think the podcast is great and is changing/improving my music
listening habits.  Even though I have 4 or 5 thousand songs on my
iTunes, it still seems like I end up listening to the same favorites
over and over.  With the podcast I get to hear new stuff all the time
and although some I've heard, much is new.  I like your commentary also
with insights into the music and various historical nuggets.
  • This is the best podcast site bar none. I just started downloading these things into my ipod about 2 months ago & just cannot get enough...Nothing on Buffalo (NY) radio can compare, especially when it comes to different versions of older tunes, e.g. Lamb Lies Down in Broadway & Fleetwod Mac's live version of the Chain, just to name a couple...
  • Just a quick note to tell you how much I look forward to
the 1st & 15th of each month when a new podcast comes out...I just started
downloading these things about 2 months ago & just can't get
enough...Nothing on local radio (Buffalo, NY) can compare, especially when
it comes to different versions of older tunes, e.g. Fleetwood Mac's live
version of the Chain, old Frank Zappa tunes, etc...
  • The first thing I did was send your link to a Floyd fan. Now that I'm hooked on your musical taste, I'll be promoting you left and right -- and sideways.

  • Great great tribute! Came across your site via a blog on Echoes. I can't wait to hear more of your "musical packets."
  • I'm enjoying listening to your series. I download every one and considering that I have dial-up that's a loooooong wait! It takes 4-5 hours for me just to download 70megs!
  • Great mix, until the Fine Young Cannibals/Monie thing comes up, it doesn't
work. But, amigo, I salute you for your hard work and excellent taste, sorry to have missed so much of it, I only found your site yesterday.
  • Please keep up the good work.  I look forward twice a
month for your updates and they help get me through
work on those days that they come out. (As I send this
    email from my work computer)
  • i actually looked up "rock podcast" on google and it gave me a site that said u were #7 best in the nation or something. that and ur show didn't seem to elitist yet at the same time u played some hardcore deep tracks... i really love it by the way.
  • Damn, I'm hooked.  It is the best Radio i never heard.  You're doing
an excellent job.  You're hired (except i'm broke ;-)!  Keep it up,
    man!

  • Living abroad and out of western culture for a while has left me
missing my old LP collection and it's refreshing to hear some of the
tunes you spin; especially the lesser known.
  • I just wanted to say thanks for the music. I'm really enjoying the mixes you do. sharing them with my kids, even.

  • I have just downloaded the last 3 offerings - so will spend play them to death over the next few days.
It must take you ages to compile the shows - so thanks - they are much appreciated.

  • OK - I'm fairly new to podcasts, I stumbled across your feeds and they are bloody excellent - I really enjoy listening to them.
  • I randomly chose episodes titles that sound interesting to me and listen while I am in the living room or the garden. From the few I heard "The Road To Infinite" and "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" are my favorites. I
really like the quotes on the beginning of each episode, that together
with the good music was the main reason why I kept listening, so keep
that up. I will definitely spread the word about the podcast.
  • Hey -- love the show!
  • Love all of the mixes I have listened to so far.  Looking forward to downloading some more !
  •  It is awesome.  I need more!!!! :)
  • Definitely the BEST radio I've never heard!!

  • It seems like each one has something unique that catches me. Plus the intros to the the 'cast are catchy too.  Most of the other podcasts I listen too have a lot of underground or indie or obscure, these mixes border on the less frequently heard, some is obscure to the mainstream listener, but I'm really enjoy them.

  • I just want to let you know that I'm blown away by these podcasts.  I can't get enough and this has easily become my favorite podcast.  I'm looking forward to the next batch.  I love the mixes that you've put together.  Thanks for pulling these all together.
  • This whole deal reminds me of "High Fidelity" w/John Cusack, (being from
Chicago, you must know it) how he and his friends run
Championship Vinyl and make tapes for each other, complete with "rules".
If they had the technology, would they be you?
  • I need to escape from the "Wine and Cheese" music scene and bump it up a bit!
Now, from what I hear on your 'cast, I'm off on another great musical
    adventure!
  • Hold on!
50 year olds are digging your podcasts now and we are liking it!

  • Gotta tell you I've REALLY been enjoying the heck out of these mixes!
It IS the way radio was meant to be . . .
  • Really dig your podcast.  Great music.  Well put together.  No fuss no muss.  More rock, less talk.
  • I normally don't listen to music podcasts as podsafe music is often
a bit thin, but you don't have that problems there.
  • I've downloaded nearly all podcasts and so far this is the one i keep coming back to.
XTC 'All along the watchtower' is an absolute gem! Best podcast on the web. Keep up the good work!

Keep up the good work .
